CAS Rugby 2022

You’re acting like he doesn’t deserve his place in the CAS squad or the school… wtf ?!?!
“Always a league prospect” what a joke .. he’s playing rugby union at the school, that’s the end of the story … it’s none of your business what he once he finishes school … what about all the boys in the 1st XV who never touch a football again once they finish school ? Is that “good for CAS Rugby” , are they also, “taking a opportunity to $PEND a couple years in a fantastic school ? “ … where is that discussion ?

Ah mate are you off your meds? Or you just can’t read? I didn’t say any of that. I was making the point that rugby will lose yet another real talent, which is a shame.

I cant see the lad playing much more CAS rugby if he has been picked in a men's test team. Or undertaking much more school for that matter.
Tonga team don’t head to Auckland till Monday so I’m sure he’ll be in the team against Cranbrook on Saturday and then it’s school holidays so he’ll be back for the rest of CAS season. Shame that he’ll miss the game against GPS but an international call up is next level

That may be exciting news for the boy in question but I don’t see it as good news for CAS rugby. It would be more interesting if Aus rugby was finding ways of enticing talented kids like that to stay in the 15 man game, although I guess he was always a league prospect taking an opportunity to spend a couple of years in a fantastic school and further rounding out his overall game.
Let’s not forget that there have been hot league prospects who have stayed in Union despite everyone thinking they wouldn’t. Billy Pollard anyone!! Maybe after a few years he’ll come back to union having enjoyed his CAS days so much

and Knox has injuries and the “mega flu” running through the school… 13-15Ds have been cancelled with not enough kids available
Not sure what teams you mean by 13 - 15Ds, is that every 13s, 14s and 15 teams? Think not.
But yep, the Flu is rife in all schools, the Waves have at least 15 players ie 1 full team, unavailable in every age group, and I think we are no different to every other school, boarding schools like Joeys etc may well be worse. Surely after Covid, enough is enough!

Sorry WLF I should have said 13,D, 14D and 15D… and now 16D. So only fielding 3 teams in each age group this weekend where there would normally be 4+ The bottom team in each is now a combined C/D side with a big bench. Yes it’s definitely in all schools… can’t take a trick

BBR, That is certainly better than every team but still a headache, yep, it's 1 thing after another at the moment.
The break will hopefully help these things to pass!

Our 1s and 2s are at full strength, what games are you going to watch?

Hey WLF3 - any thoughts on Ronald Volkman's debut for the Warriors? Its a shame he left rugby for league, but it is always great to see good talent rise to the senior ranks; maybe one day he might return to union..

I remember refereeing him in a 16 A game against Scots, and he was a class above everyone else on the field...

You're quite right.
FWIW - Aloys only has one team in each of the 14s and 15s. They played Waverly 14Bs and 15Bs last weekend, but interestingly the school has been quiet in regards to if this is happening for the entire CAS season, or if it is a week to week proposition depending on the strength of the opposition.

Wow that is a big drop. They fielded 4 teams in the now u16s last year.

Yes High OB, He was a seriously good player, could do it all, including goal kicking.
Also a great young man, very team orientated, not just about himself and everyone is very happy for him.

There have been a multitude of very good players over the years just goes to show how few make the big time in either code. .

I’ll be around for 16a 1sts and 2nds… knox without their No8 this week but full strength apart from that.

should be a great game, I’ll post updates in the 1sts.

Shame about Katoa missing CAS v GPS… from a selfish perspective i just wanted to see him play as I have haven’t seen him before.

Ap1 any thoughts from an aloys perspective of what you think should happen rugby wise re the CAS survey? Is there a good crop of young talent, albeit without depth of numbers, that just needs a stronger rugby program / department? Interested to hear from someone on the ground week to week

I will also be at the 16as, and then up to see all the Opens. As you can appreciate I won't be going home and returning! :p

Agree would have liked to see Katoa, he played last year but probably wasn't as strong as this year.
The weather killed our style of play, particularly in the big running forwards, and we bombed 3 tries last year, so didn't deserve to win.
I wonder who the CAS 10 will be!

There you go, I was at the game in appalling rain and for some reason I thought it was the other barker lad at 10 (name escapes me)… so I have seen him play. Yeah that was an odd game, a lot of good players didn’t fire on that evening…

the current knox 10 is quite a good kicker and distributer… not the biggest kid going around. The younger Edmed is at trinity… his brother was great for CAS against GPS at joeys some years back

Or maybe there’s a waves 10 tomorrow that steels the show??? (I hope not)
