I suspect that the people who do the measuring will be watching closely.
whats the mean? I presume talking about cat selectors??? If so why would they care how a GPS side played..
Sorry missing something
I'm referring to those who measure or otherwise in your post #921. It would seem unlikely that the gps and cas schools turned their respective comps upside down solely in order to play an additional 5 trials that no one cares about. More likely it's a test to see if a combined comp of some sort will work. If so, those who measure are likely to be watching. No doubt selectors will be also as they will have to select on trial form. All in all, more at stake all round than the usual pre season trials.
if it was to see if a combined comp would work, why arent they playing these sort of games at the backend of the season.

Will CAS schools that dont offer scholarships and dont recruit be able to compete with GPS schools on a long term basis?
CN and Sideline,
Geeeze my view has been clear for a long time and been rubbished by many, like donuts and little chicken (sorry duck eggs) in that the CAS schools now playing games vs the GPS schools will get destroyed.
The bigger picture does need to be explained and you would have to think this change is for that reason, otherwise all of won't understand why it happened in the first place BUT if what we all think us right, it will lead to a much stronger competition for everyone, going forward, and for me that is real progress for NSW school rugby, and I include the public schools in my picture.
CN, mentions the recruiting aspect which is true but some schools can still perform well without buying a premiership, trust this comment is clear and makes it clear that everyone knows when you buy it, or as other well known people say, it's " a fake win or fake news".
Can the CAS schools compete long term, who knows, but no school ever wins every year. The point is senior school rugby has an opportunity to show the silly ARU how to evolve, let's do it,for all of us!
Really???

If it moved into a tiered comp.
Those schools would need to engage in the same scholarship attempts GPS schools engage in to compete.
I can't speak for the past or future, but the Knox First XV this year will be comprised solely of boys who have been at the school for a number of years. That's my take on it. I can't talk for a school like Knox but Waverley dont recruit.
