And the good thing about schoolboy rugby is its potential unpredictability because we are after all talking about teenage boys. They don't all have adult temperaments, or bulk, or decision-making skills. So the on-paper matchup doesn't always accord with the on-field results. Could go either way on Saturday.

Anyone travelling to Queen's Park expecting an easy victory it taking the wrong approach.

You do realise that "best speed coach in Australia" is a massive and incredibly subjective call.

Don't you think some athletics coaches taking elite athletes might be in contention?

Have a look at the Trinity sprinters at CAS Athletics this year. They might have something to say about who is the best speed coach in CAS, let alone Australia. One boy who left last year ran 10.18 while still at school. Who coaches him?

Having said that - for one reason or another - the Trinity head of athletics does not directly help with any of the rugby program, though he has previously.
Just my opinion. Trinity guy is very good & they've produced many more " sprinters" in recent times. But when you're from the US they're a class above - & this is a weakness in Australian rugby IMO.

Enough Des Hasleresque talking up the opposition & down our team. Knox trained with clinical precision today. The talk was about exerting physical domination over the Gold V. And to do it for our HM who is such an inspiration to our team. We respect Waverley who are a pretty tidy outfit. But Knoxy Knoxy Power Rangers will lead us to triumphant jubilation. Just too much class. Everyone should come and watch a master class on Saturday at Warrawee at the greatest schoolboy venue for watching & playing Rugby !

How are they going for the half yearly exams?
Hopefully the super coach and the elite troop are keeping up the primary reasoning for attending an academic institute?

To be fair Knox came 2nd in the HSC last year out of the CAS schools with only Aloys (who is partially selective) beating it.

Just ask one of the relay team. What was her name again?
Oh that's right. Florence Griffith Joyner

Yes, the 1.47 from Hornsby makes a beautiful backdrop especially when playing a GPS team. (Pick a team, any team)

Personally I do not agree with Wayne " the Pain" McLean. Joeys gave Waverley a blue print of how to beat them. Pretty simple. Get the footage of that and it's as easy as 1, 2 .....errr.....3

Wayne it's a seriously unqualified opinion. Have you heard of Michael Dooley in Sydney alone? He's got a girl running 22.5 for 200. How many of the Knox boys will run that this year?

Maybe you mean the best speed coach working in rugby. The lady might well be a very good coach, but being US trained does not = better. Cranbrook's Steve Solomon was almost broken by the training they put him through in the US, and has thrived since coming back to Aus.

Why does it have to a competition as to who is the best coach? Who can judge anyway?

With all the hype over the Waverley Knox fixture it seems that the W v K 14B game has slipped under the radar - game 2 of a potential 4 game series is at Death Valley No 2. Game 1 at Gillespie was very tight in the first half with four lead changes - Waverley finished much the stronger and ran out comfortable winners. Can Knox turn the tables at the House of Pain? Hopefully they will have learned that grasping at the shoulders of strong ball runners seldom works.

It's subjective. She's not well known here. But when you have US college credentials and are part of the Flo Jo Relay team in '84 & work with College footballers who learn to move in tight spaces then that's better than what we got. It's a point of difference. Knox haven't done anything in Athletics for years ....it's not as high priority as it would be for a Trinity. But Rugby is. From what I hear Knox have gone from having lots of back & hip flexor injuries to none. Those injuries transferred to the Tigers LOL. Watch out wherever that coach is now. That's all. The rugby boys don't see the value of track but the Head coach of Rugby - an Ex International & Heineken cup & Super 12 etc ....sees the value of speed. And that is why she's there. And she's making a difference. And that makes Rugby exciting to watch instead of the pick and drive maul maul maul penalty penalty penalty type play.

and I live at Maroubra
I love Maroubra. The surf is fine & the chicks are D-vine ! Why don't you leave your bubble and come up to the Warrawee( 35 paces from the train station) bubble bath & watch your boys get spanked on the Bubble field. Then when the word is out the Knoxy Power Ranger boys can come to your beautiful patch of D-Vine paradise

Yes, the Warrawee wunderkind playing at the the greatest venue for schoolboy rugby ever. What could possibly go wrong? Will the Waverley Warriors waylay the dreams of the Warrawee wonders?

If we read some posts, Waverley shouldn't even bother turning up.

Yes, all the circus spruiking could be causing the Waverley players and personnel to curl up in the fetal position and pull the blankets over their heads instead of venturing up the highway to do battle with the supremely dominant, Olympic-standard-sprinting, Herculean figures of the Warrawee Super Stars, played at the greatest sporting venue on planet earth.
Wayne the Pain, who has never been prone to exaggeration before, has sparked colorful theatre for the impending clash of the Haves and Have-Nots; the working class Double V underdogs, making do with teacher-coaches and modest resources verses the professionally coached and extravagantly resourced Silvertails and red hot favourites from the leafy upper north shore.
And everyone loves an underdog .....

this is exactly why the CAS & GPS & ISA 2 rounds must cease & Bill Pulver should get real & have a cup of tea with the CEO's/Headmasters & discuss the educationally holistic merits of having 1 round & the rest against schools of their size & standard ie Knox v Kings, Trinity v Grammar, across the board. Atleast Knox/Wav 14Bs get a decent game. Maybe they should swap uniforms or backs and forwards .....Cmon Bill Pulver !
