Anyone else see the game? Yes the No. 10 had a great game considering he was playing 2nd row a last year!!!!

After round 3 cas selections must be a little clearer. The knox pack might not be as dominant as once thought, however, everyone has a bad day every now and then.
IMHO, #2 McKenna (W) and #10 Bailey (W) pushed their claims for rep honours on the weekend.
Anyone have any other thoughts from the weekend regarding selections?

Many, many moons ago I typed something on the old SAffer Super Sportzone cricket forum. A batsman had been hit by a fast one but he followed up with a boundary.

I agree with Tah Men's report regarding players of the Knox Vs trinity match:
Knox - Chapman, Joe Williams
Trinity - Longville, Payne, Morris
I will add some others that impressed me:

Lachlan Swinton,
Tom Woodcock - A very impressive game for a Yr 10 boy at Fly-half. Error free and made good run and kick metres. IMO he had a slightly better game than his opposite No. 10.
Max Cutrone - Another Yr 10 boy at Prop (no. 3) who held his own against his opposite number.
The depth at Knox is reflected in the fact that they can have two of these 16 yr old boys playing such key positions in 1st XV - yet their 16's still won comfortably. It will be interesting to see whether CAS will also blood some of these younger players into their teams.

James Wayland - Hard ball runner
The No.1 Prop - Cant recall his name.
It was obvious that Trinity stepped-up for this important match and they caught Knox on a day when they were making too many unforced errors.

Yeah mate, saw the game was a cracker from both sides, really strong contest with standout performances from the Knox 15 Grattan and his opposing number.
Great contest from the first whistle, Knox's forward pack were strong throughout the game although lacking size on their opponents. Some good team try's were scored across the board.
Highlight of the game was the Knox boys goal line defence in the dying stages with some big hits, getting off the line very swiftly.
All in all a solid game with a good win to Knox giving them a 3-0 record and putting them at the top of the 2nd's standings.
I will add some others that impressed me also
no 22 from Knox
- Has some real toe and will get plenty more game time

- should really be playing at 10, has got some real talent and is in contention for CAS if he continues to play well at 10, needs to back himself and get his head over the ball
The no. 1 from trinity was James Wayland, thought he had a cracker, but needs to get his head over the ball more

I think the second rowers were pretty even, Rasch had the size over Begg and Margin who are both big lads (they probably had the fitness over the Trinity second rowers). I think Knox had Trinity in the flankers, Chapman and Swinton were too good. Trinity's captain McLennan had a great game very intimidating on the field, Basson was good too. The Backrow for CAS is going to be tough for selectors.

who is the opposing number and what did he do good?
Just read the barker v aloys reports, a good read!. however, i can't see how you wouldn't have the aloys 12 (Lawson) down as one of the best on field, seemed to break the line every time he got possession. Thought the Barker prop Tim Anstey had a strong game, the scrums were fairly even and he did a lot of the hard yards for a struggling Barker pack.

It was the 15a's. the 16a's was 7-6 to waverley. The 15's are cranbrooks weak age group. 87-0.
The inclusion of so many Barker boys in the predicted CAS u16 team is inaccurate due to the thrashing from Cranbrook. There were many outstanding players from the Cranbrook team, the number 8 Broekhuizen and the outside centre Dickins had exceptional games and are strong contenders for the CAS u16 team

I would have to agree, the Cranbrook boys have been overlooked in the commentary here and the team is particularly strong in the backline with the best midfield kicking skills of any team in the U16's comp constantly finding green space and resulting in territory gains. In the Barker game the Barker team was on the back foot.

A few thoughts on Knox 1sts v Trinity - this game proves that any team in the comp can beat any other team if the ducks line up. The ducks were very close to lining up at Warrawee on Saturday. The sublime performance of K displayed at Waverley was not repeated. This was very much due to a committed and talented Trinity outfit. Sure K was missing Stenning and Armstrong in the backs but every team have injuries and has to make changes. With a bit of luck T could have won this one but K try line defense was first class. K scored 2 tries from line outs close to the line via very well executed rolling mauls but it wasn't all plain sailing for the K line out - twice they short arm penalized for failing to throw the ball in an appropriate time. I would like to see stats on the game like possession and territory. K seemed to make more unforced errors than T and took strange options that put their team under pressure. I don't think there was a try scored from a line break by either side. It was a real arm wrestle. and I would have given the forward battle to K in a very tight decision. The T back line performed well and made very few errors but both sides had trouble penetrating. The T no 8 stood out and was very hard to tackle. It was unfortunate for T that I'll discipline cost them a chance of forcing a victory when back chat was penalized on the K try line late in the game. The Trinity 15 was also excellent and set the position up for the first T try backed up by a bullocking run by T no 2 who had some good moments.
I am sorry I will miss next Saturday's game V Aloys.
