16s age group are very strong this year, being dominated by Knox Waves and Barker. Possible 16 CAS prediction team for 2015 might look like:

1. Cutrone (K) Played 1st xv this year
2. May (B)/ Townsted (W)
3. Wright (W) Played in 1s xv this year
4. Frost (K)
5. Clifton (W)/ Northcote (B)
6. Coghill (B) Played 1st xv this year
7. Stead (T)
8. Szabo (W)
9. Hansen (K)
10. Woodcock (K) Played 1st xv this year
11. Pavlakis (k)
12. Hardeker (w)/ Collins (k)
13. Van Woerkom (B) Played 1st xv this year
14. Marais (B)/ Howe (W)
15. Lloyd (B)

Should be a very strong team.

Although there's some strong front-rowers in that side, it would be hard to overlook another prop from Waves, Nicholas Guerrera. A damaging ball-runner but another prospect lost to league as he is in the Roosters set-up, a great player nevertheless....

Will be a real push for front row positions then. Although if Cutrone, Wright and Buffa all play prop for CAS I'm pretty sure it is automatic selection if you are in the 1's so really only 1 spot left for a prop. Could be his?

What about Cornish(W)? Stead (T)? Tejek (B) apparantly has had 1sts time although year 9?? Is he eligible? Townsend (W) plays hooker and plays hard?Rahme (A) is in the same boat at hooker. Donaldson (W)?? Cranbrook centre plays well aswell don't know his name though. Buffa (B) also plays front row for 1's at Barker so if one of the three props can throw it could be an all 1st XV front row. Lloyd (B) could be there too, has got gas and can play.
Yes Cornish probably would be there if fit. Yes, forgot about Stead.

Definetly would put Rahme or Townsend over the May and I do think that Clifton will get the over Northcote but both strong players. Just noot sure about the inside centre position. Do think that Cornish is a step above the other two and would be a good pairing with Van Woerkom. I do agree that Marais should be considered on the wing as he is a very strong ball runner.

Is there any depth at Trinity? Any players in 2nds that will be fine to play in 1st if anyone gets injured? Names or position? Backs and Forwards if possible.

Mmmm.....by my count that would make it 6 x Barker players, with Knox 5 and 4-5 from Waverley. Hahaha. Slightly disproportionate based on team form. I suggest you focus on picking the best CAS team - rather than helping your mates.

From what I've heard, Cornish should be back on in 5-6 weeks, for the return of the round after the holiday break, or Waverley's trial with Scots.

Wouldn't put my house on Guerrera being selected, damaging ball runner maybe, but unfit and lacking some size still.

I haven't seen Northcote but he'd have to be something special in the u16's to get over Clifton. Not sure how Cornish will play after such a lengthy stint on the sideline but has being training during the weeks, I think it's just contact that he can't be apart of.

When will the CAS teams be announced roughly?

Knox were the better team, and better disciplined, no dispute there, but it's only early in the season. Don't get too cocky; you know what happened last season .. But you've lost me .. there were no penalties awarded at 8.02 or 10.55. Did I miss something?

The moderator of this forum has asked everyone to remember we are discussing schoolboy rugby and rugby players. To suggest Waverley's brand of play is thuggery and is condoned by the coaches is ridiculous.

There were three yellow cards given in the Waves-Knox game. Two to Waverley players and one to a Knox player. A lifting tackle by a Waverley player, an open handed push to an opposing player's face by a Waverley player and a high tackle from a Knox player.

Following your argument, they were all acts of thuggery, and not indiscretions from schoolboy rugby players. That includes the dangerous high tackle from the Knox player. It should also include the reactions from the Knox forwards after the lifting tackle.

It should also include all the 'thuggery' that goes on in the rucks that no one notices except the players but which is par for the course in schoolboy rugby.

It must feel nice up there on your high horse but you can't have your cake and eat it too ...

I'm not cocky, I have no allegiance to Knox or Knox rugby or even CAS. I am a completely neutral observer and base my comments on the 3 games i've watched, 2 of which Waves lost. Yes you did miss something, I just gave you two examples [out of several I've seen] to back my comments. These particular ones were appalling high tackles [that as you correctly say, were not penalised]. 8:02 was malicious [intent]. The Knox high tackle at the end of the game was not, it was a tired player hanging out his arm and not getting his tackle right. Obviously you will disagree so don't bore us by saying so. What I was suggesting was that Waverley's coach really does need to install some discipline into his talented players, just as the Knox coach has done in achieving this big win. And I reiterate, I am not Knox, I am from GPS.

Then why on earth are you watching so many CAS games? 8.02 - malicious? oh please, spare me the one eyed BS. You can say you not aligned anywhere but your comments state otherwise. There is a GPS page here for you to put your thoughts down.

I watch them because I live nearby and because the GPS comp hasn't started yet. Sorry you don't like a neutral opinion, truth always hurts I would suggest.

Ball and all tackles ...... not penalised for a reason. áppalling' .... 'malicious'? But the Knox player was 'tired' ? Give me a break; it's a body contact sport.

I agree they need to improve their discipline so no need to argue with me about that. It was only the second game so no doubt they will work on it. The coach is proven; no need to defend him. He can't go out on the field and do it for the players, and you can't put an old head on young shoulders.
Time will tell ........

OK guys let's stop talking about foul play, It's had a good run - future posts on the matter will be zapped.

The same goes for strident posts about fighting on the field - that can go viral with posters who saw it and others who also saw it and said something different happened. According to all of them they were right—they saw it. Don't even get started.

And don't get too excited about bad refereeing decisions - like players the refs have bad days and posters also have bad days in their observation of what happened. Many don't know the laws either especially about the difference between a tackle and a ruck.

And yarda, yarda - don't be inflammatory: be moderate.

Guys as a former graduate of Barker in 2010, i have been taking a close look at Waverley and Knox 16'A's. They have proven they have been the best 2 teams overall in the competition since U13's. Based on form from previous years in this age group and the first 2 games of the 2015 season, Knox and Waverley have been very dominant so far but there is plenty more games to be played. Here is my personal opinion on what the CAS team could look like.

1. Max Cutrone K
2. Hunter Doyle W
3. Finn Wright W
4. Nick Frost K
5. Pat Clifton W
6. Coghill B
7. Stenning K
8. Cornish W
9. Marco Bell W
10. Donaldson W
11. Van Woerkom B
12.Hardaker W
13. Collins K
14. O'Sullivan W
15. Pavlakis K

I Have watched many CAS U15 games from last year and both Waverley games this year and can certainly say that Ben Donaldson and Brooklyn Hardaker have been on top of their game. Marco Bell has shown great leadership and toughness. Cornish has been injured but is only a few weeks away from returning and is looking very fit. Im not to sure about Doyle at 2 but could be a gamble that could definitely pay off. I also wouldn't be surprised if Joel Ellis got thrown in the discussion at some point as he has been having a dream season so far. At the end of the day its not my decision but having talked to the selectors of the CAS team for 2015 this is the direction they are going in.

1. Max Cutrone - Knox
2. Hunter Doyle - Waverly
3. Daniel Buffa - Barker
4. Humphrey - Knox
5. Nick Frost - Knox
6. Matt Coghill - Barker
7. Stenning - Knox
8. Liam Cornish - Waverly
9. Marco Bell - Waverly
10. Cranbrook's big fly half, great ball skills and size. / Donaldson - Waverly
11. William Loyd - Barker
12. Collins - Knox
13. Fallito Van Woerkom - Barker
14. O'Sullivan - Waverly
15. Michael Pavlakis - Knox

There still are spots up for grabs as i have not watched Trinity play this year but hope to see a good winger from them. Otherwise, i think we have a chance against GPS this year!

Wright and Clifton both U16s and playing firsts for Waverley but can't make your under 16s team? Interesting.
