all we need is for barker to go through undefeated, tie with waverley in the second or third last round, and to lose to knox in the final round by a point and we'll pretty much have an exact repeat of last year

Ref and touchy in the Knox waverley game seemed to turn the blind eye a lot and then sent of the waverley number 9 for a clean still in the last 10 mins was absolutely ridiculous and the. The waverley number 8 had scored what looked to be a certain try but ref had called it as held up. Was a joke

Barker/Cranbrook, 39-10 Barker. most points scored in the 2nd 1/2. (10-3 1/2 time) Barker back to what they do best!!

Wow, I thought we were beyond 'home crowd harry' refereeing but the effort of the man with the whistle to keep the game at Knox close was appalling. With waverley completely on top and cruising some of the most ridiculous calls responding to jeers from old boys got them back in the game and I still have no idea what the sin binning was for, nor the waverley forwards try dissalowed for. The difference in quality was clear and the scoreline is a complete farce in representing what the game was like. The knox winger however, the shorter one was phenomenal

My heart goes out to the waverley boys.. That ref could of well and truly cost waverley there season.what they need is to beat barker and for Knox to do the same thing as last year by spoiling barkers chances in the last round for there to be split premiers

Why count on Knox? Trinity could beat Barker yet

Injuries to their representative players is the only thing that will beat Barker this year.
They are BEATING everything and everybody that is put in front of them, and I believe that their victories will continue through the end of the season.

I'm an old barker boy and I believe that waverley had beaten barker in there previous clash was a most unfortunate way of losing when one of there players had passed the ball out in stead of kicking it giving barker the penalty. In which they took full advantage off to score to win the game. After today's disappointing loss I would look for waverley to dominate at the set peice against barker and come away with a win at Death Valley. With that said it all depends on how waverley handle this crucial loss and weather they step up to the challenge or hold there heads down and give up

GPS teams just announced, on first reading the team is also arguable weaker than last year, the centre pairing is strong though.

Sad to say but I need to get it off my chest.
I can't recall a worse refereeing performance in several years of watching CAS games. From about 20 mins to go when Waves were up 4 tries to 1 the game turned. It was unfortunately like Waverley were playing 16 instead of 15.
The Waverley 9 (Naryan) asked the ref after the game why he was sent off? answer: My Mistake but nothing I can do about it now.
The Waverley 8 (Powter) scored the match winner and had it reversed as held up. He is adamant that he got it down but by the time the ref got there it was off the ground again.
Several times Waverley players were tackled and held up and Knox were awarded penalties. Waverley did the same but never received a penalty.
The sheer lack of consistency was the main issue.
I have never seen the Waverley coaches talk to the refs after a game other than the usual handshake and good game comment. Today both coaches spent 10 mins on the field after the game. I guess trying to understand the refs thinking.

The Waverley Captain (2) Koutsoukis gave a wonderful speech at the after match function. Very good sportsmanship to not even hint and the poor refereeing. Well done to him.

Waverley should hold there heads up, clearly the better team today, unfortunately the scoreboard wont reflect this. Like someone above has said already, this was another heartbreaking way for Waverley to be beaten.

Some beaut tries by Waverley backs - one almost the length of the field.
One in first half went through about seven hands before Murphy went over. Hope he is ok for CAS. He went off with a knee injury.

I have been a keen follower of g&grf for a long time now especially CAS rugby, but decided to join to voice my opinion about the post of silverarrow.
Firstly I would have to say that the referee didn't win Knox the game today, the Knox team ran out with confidence and spirit and played an extremely tough game of rugby, and I do not believe Waverley were huge standouts, there were very long periods of attack when Knox was hammering the Waverley try line many times during the match.
The comment about naryans talk with the referee after the game is nothing but completely wrong. Naryan asked the reff why he was sin binned, and the reff told him it was for dissent against the referee which is a fair cardabke offence and also adding to this was the professional foul of keeping the ball away from knox when they had the chance to take a quick tap near the line. Naryan then agreed with the referees decision, at no point did the referee say it was a mistake.
The try attempt by powter was held up in a last ditch effort by captain stirzaker, and even though the Waverley supporters and coaches 75 metres away swore he got it down, I was standing on the ledge right above the corner and it was definately held up.
After the match I was near the referees and coaches for a short time and can say that the main Waverley coach was fine in asking for a few explanations but the show put on by the younger assistant coach was embarrassing.
Both teams played good rugby today and it was a fantastic match to watch, from Waverley I was quite impressed by the number 10 odonnel, the captain koutoukis, the number 12 and the number 14. From Knox there were good games by the winger paek, the centre newby

Regrettably you show an bias untypical of one who really appreciates rugby. Waverely took their foot off the gas and paid for it. It is the failing of a great side who had Barker beaten and blew it. Wayerly are often accused of refree bias amongst their hometown apparatchiks in the lower teams , but in this case we have a totally independant referee accused of cheating. Van Zyl the Knox 8 outplayed Powter like he did not exist, Knox wanted it and won via exelent backline defence against an over confident side. Waverly talked to the ref after the game because they were blitzed by a more determined less experienced side who successfully defended their home turf. Have the grace to accept defeat. The Waverley 2 and 10 had brilliant games as did Duffy and Meyer , the 10 and 15 for K.
