I’d probably give Waverley a couple more (both wingers and fullback for sure) and Leigh instead of Glassie in the centres, but I think the difference is in the rest of the Waverley team not listed in that team we’re significantly stronger than the remainder of the Knox team.

Next weeks games:
Barker will account for Trinity easily.
Aloys had a good win against Trinity and Knox suffered a bad loss against Waves so the Cranbrook v Knox game will be interesting.
Waverley cant afford to take Aloys lightly at home.
Barker
Knox
Waves

Yeah would be a good team. Grobler(K) was good, thought Kablau was very good and Leigh did well at 12 considering he has been a winger for so long.

6 from Knox and 7 from Waverley when Waverley won 32-0 though..

How many of the Knox boys are in year 11?

From the program it seems to be at least 8 or 9 year 11's for the 1xv (with Breden out whos also year 11). Knox 2xv are made up of at least 11 or 12 year 11's. Should be a good year for Knox next year, I guess you could call it a building year for them this year?

Alos 8 and 13 were great in defence yesterday and 10 and 15 were flawless in attack.

Should be an exciting season looking at the results.

Following Rod Skellet go at putting forward the names and players in his opinion should be in the staring XV for CAS 1sts this year. I would like to add to his thoughts.

1. Frear. Knox
2. Pollard. Barker
3. Lambert. Trinity or Wilson. Barker
4. Harry Flaherty. Barker (6ft 4 height and weight at set pieces)
5. Ben Yates. Knox (6ft 8 height and weight at set pieces)
6. Cameron. Barker (6ft 3 height and weight at set pieces)
7. Luke Reimer. Barker V. Captain
8. Luca Moretti. Waverley
9. David Tejcek Barker Captain
10. Edmed. Trinity
11. Tom Cameron. Barker
12. Josh Nercessian
13. Lachlan llias. Trinity
14. Kyle Galloway. Barker
15. Jayden

Forwards have 4 Options for jumpers with 3 tall men
Locks in Flaherty 108kg and Yates 114kg gives plenty of weight in scrums
With a very good tight five Reimer and Moretti then can play there own game

That would mean should the Waves finish 1st or 2nd in the comp, in this team, they will get 1 player in.
I don't think so, Hutchinson-Walters is out now but not sure if no.12 is eligible due to age in regards to NSW etc selection.
Being big doesn't mean you make it, had the Waves not dropped so much ball they would have put 50+ on knox yesterday, and Aloys beat Trinity yesterday.

I must admit, this team doesn't excite me as much as last years, but time will tell.

Stab in the dark here, but given your team selection and your Gordon logo I'm assuming you live north of the harbour. Waverley haven't really gelled as a team but have really only been bettered by Scots - lost to SIC but both were experimenting with players & it still came down to the wire (interestingly, even three years ago if SIC beat Waverley it would have been a shrug of the shoulders & 'what do you expect ?' but this year it was crowd running onto the field stuff - testament to the benefits of this 'trial round' and better appreciation of CAS capabilities methinks). Thumped Shore, Newington & St Augustine's (who beat Scots - gotta love schoolboys) and now Knox. I have no idea of who will be picked but the entire backrow from Waverley is a large part of the reason they're winning for example. In the game v Scots, Molloy was out (he was injured),and Murphy got injured early which meant that Scots could 'double team' Moretti effectively. When they're all on the park at the same time they're tough to handle. Tough call for selectors given the Barker/Waverley match happens after the rep break.

CAS will select 2 teams as usual.
Its not uncommon for players to be selected for a State team from CAS 2s.
This year could see two fairly even teams selected.

Not a game for the ages, but if you beat one of the big schools at their home by lots to nil w/o a main playmaker and with lots of areas to improve on, then you would be well satisfied. As for Knox, they looked over-coached and under-inspired.[/quote]

Waverley were better than Knox and won. It could have been due to superior skill and execution. It is additionally satisfying to criticize the way they were coached and their boys lack of inspiration.

Ben Pollack from Aloys will be the starting 10 for CAS, completely schooled Edmed yesterday made him look amateur. Not saying Edmed doesn't deserve to be picked, he's a very good player and his performance against Joeys was immense. But if your a selector looking at the Aloys-Trinity game Edmed can't be dominated by his only competition for that 10 jersey and then be rewarded by getting it over Pollack.

Yes I do live on North side as my son plays for Barker 16's A. Waverley have some great players. Molley is a quality player when i look at Reimer and Molley i choose Reimer as he is playing fantastic at the moment. Another opition is to play Molley at 6.

Is it just me, or is the selection of a player for number 12 becoming a concern for CAS selectors.

By my reckoning, the options are quickly deteriorating:
Barker - J Nercessian - ok to play CAS, but not to represent CAS.
Knox - S Rechner - concussion - out for several weeks.
Aloys - S Spalding - U16s
Trinity - J Ierimiah - out with ankle injury.
Waverley - L Hutchinson -Walters - out with broken hand. R. Volkman - U16s.
Cranbrook - A Pakutoa - out - unknown injury.

Does anyone know if any of the injured are due back this week???

Otherwise, one of the 10s being discussed might need to fill the void.

I'm fairly certain that Connor Molloy will make CAS 1s. Wouldn't surprise if Luca Moretti plays lock (as he did last year), and Luke Reimer fills the 8 position.
Also think that contibutors aren't seeing the likelihood of Malachi Hawkes filling the hooker position, with Billy Pollard back to flanker. Just can't see why he would be ommitted from the 16s sqaud unless the reward was significant.

We have a mountain of specialst locks around who are playing well. Moretti whilst plays well at 8 he is not a specialist at lock. If Billy Pollard is back at Breakaway then Hawkes would have to be looked at.

re. S Rechner, he is out for rest of season due to concussion

Perhaps because they select 2 CAS teams. Didnt Pollard playing CAS 2nds last year instead of U16s? On form Hawkes or F Spalding (A) would be the Hooker in CAS 2 IMHO. I would be surprised to see Pollard at Flanker given the depth of talent already available in the back row.

I wouldnt worry too much about 12; either Edmed (T) or Pollack (A) should fill the spot

Agree, I wonder if they will play Edmed 10 and Pollack at 12? CAS would be able to control field position pretty well with two handy boots! Then have Westbury at 15, Galloway at 11 and Ilias at 13.

Only other issue is other wing spot?

Tom Leigh has been strong for Knox on the wing

If the CAS selectors are concerned about the GPS inside backs, which I think is a fair concern, then imo Moretti must play lock if they want to shake them up, both in attack and defence.
