Plus Cranbrook don’t have a run that will prepare them:

They have

St Pius - 5th May (barely make 1st div ISA)
Tas - 12th May (play in a 3rd grade comp)
SGC 19th May (3rd grade comp)
Grammar - 26th (As above)
Then shore which is their hardest game?

So even if they belt those teams- they won’t be as prepared as a school that plays stannies, then kings, then Newington, then scots, then Riverview, then joeys...

Any result they have won’t actually be a realistic view of how they will compete against teams that will be competing in a much stronger comp. a strong Barker result is far more indicative that they are strong than a strong Cranbrook result. And as a result they won’t be ready for teams like Knox, Barker and Waverly.

Predictions for this weekend:

Barker to beat Kings in a nailbiter.
Knox to thrash Shore.
Cranbrook to beat St Pius.
Trinity to win in a tight one to SPC.

A good weekend for CAS depending on other teams.

Not sure who other teams are playing.

I think Aloys have Grammar and Waverly have Augustine’s?

Anyone know the other teams Trinity and Aloys are playing over the invitationals, There doesn't seem to be much info on here about them

Yeah if you think anyone in the Cranbrook pack can compete with Reimer, Pollard, Flaherty, Dring and Weymouth you have another thing coming.

The same pack that nearly beat a pack that included Cornish, Moretti, Wright, Whiteman a year younger will be pretty good.

An often forgotten detail about last years close game between Waverley and Barker.
Waverley's 2 main strike weapons, Moretti and Wright didn't play! which makes a slight difference.

But I do agree that this year's Barker pack is strong.

Waves play Riverview at Death Valley.

Knox will need to thrash Shore to be the real deal this year.
We will see.

First, I think you mean ‘another think coming’
Second, you mean a pack containing Cornish & Whiteman (Oz schoolboys Moretti & Wright didn’t play that day).
Third, you have to play Waverley at QP this year

Players returning:

Barker
Pollard
Dring (injured but would have been there)
Flaherty
Weymouth
Tejcek
Reimer
Nercessian
Galloway
Was Weymouth there?
Pretty sure I’m missing some too.

Trinity:
Chambers
Ginis
Edmed
White
Ilias
Chambers
The second rower
K something?

Aloys:
Pollack
Rahme
Spalding
Ryan
Di Sano
Branagan
Westbury
Ienco
Fogarty
Brennan
Isn’t there two Rahmes?

Waverly:
Moretti
Andrews
Whiteman
Murphy
Baldwin
Molloy
Rice
McGuiggan?
Plus their seconds won the comp and were mostly 11’s.

Cranbrook:

No one.

That’s the difference.
looking at the amount of quality returning players for Aloys this year i reckon they'll give all teams a test--could be their year??quality backs and very good forwards--if they can shut down Reimer and moretti respectively, anything is possible!!

Who are the Knox players returning this year to look out for on Saturday against Shore? Is Cameron still at Knox?

Waves play Riverview at Death Valley.

I'm tiping a win for Waves. But if View can match Waves in the fowards, they could win it in the backs. I believe
almost the entire View backline played 1st XV in 2017 and 3 made NSW schools or u16s.

Rich e, you are quite right view has some red hot backs and Waverley have a pretty good pack of forwards

Their backrow def look good on paper

My heart says Waverley, but head says view

i will be interested to see how Levi Milford fares in the double v

And not sure if Fagan has made the backline?

The article says that both are acceptable uses, but my version makes literal sense so is the most common version?

So no, I didn’t mean another think.. I meant another thing.

And given you were 50% wrong wrt who played in the Waverley forward pack against Barker at Hornsby last year, I'm thinking research accuracy isn't your strong suit.

I do think Waverley will get the win against view but have to admit as highly as I rate him I am surprised of Levi Milfords coming straight into start for the double V. Of all the boys who have enrolled at Waverley over the last couple months he would be the only one I could see where there was good players in his position in both the 16a's and seconds last year who might be a bit upset by his inclusion over them In the first XV

I understand Riverview will have 6 regulars out with injury, including Bell, Dutallis and Easy. Maybe a Waverley win will be less indicative than it otherwise may have been.

Waves will also be without a few major players, so both sides are under strength.

It will be interesting to see the new Waves and Riverview teams this weekend.

Just hope there is a strong View supporter group for their Opens teams.

The weather looks fantastic, so no excuses.

Time will tell.
