Wow have a look at some of the comments made on that article - so much mungo hatred!!!

Tiger - I've defended Tahu against Cannon in this thread, but I must admit that I find league and its culture pretty repulsive. I'm really glad that we have two codes in order to get rid of the (culturally) ugliest players and fans. In England, soccer plays the same role.

As well as NZa, Fiji. Tonga

i already mentioned Fiji, and it was actually NZ Maori that year...

However, like i said, Turinui was a far better player then Tahu in the 2008 Pacific Nations then Tahu..

All that this article by Maximus has done is keep the flame alive in the Rugby v Mungo debate.

Silverspoons v Working class. Have's and Have not's. University v TAFE. Brains v Brawn, etc, etc, e-bloody-tc. I find it all quite amusing to be honest! This article has nothing to do with Rugby v League and everything to do with respect.

At the risk of pouring lemon juice in the papercut that is the League v Rugby debate, it seems to me that Canno was talking on behalf of all past Rugby players who have trained and toiled and bled for years to earn the right to be in contention for a Gold jersey, and the honour that goes with it, compared to Tahu being handed one on a platter and then after realising it was too hard, he took a swipe on the way out. For that, I offer a big and hearty "Fuck you" to TT.

I think the ARU can take some of the blame as well. The Gold jersey IS priceless (especially for those of us who only wish we could have earned one!), and handing one out as a carrot to induce NRL players converting is a bit on the nose.

For the record, I'm with you, Canno....Even though you are not the most popular person in Mungoland right now!

I went over to Sportal and read "their" rules.

A few will have noticed a new presence and less bad manners on this forum.
Please enjoy this forum and allow others to enjoy it as well.
The forum is for rugby discussion, please observe the rules;
1: Do not slander or defame anyone - anytime,
2: No personal abuse. Play the ball not the man. Personal comments will be deleted. If you notice that your posts or sections of posts are getting deleted, please take the message. Only a complete knob jockey resorts to personal insults anyway.
3: No swearing or cussing. Some non-English is permitted here, in moderation. We Australians are a tolerant, open-mided people who would like to learn more about the backward cultures of the world.
4: No racist comments - ever
5: No identifying other members unless they give permission,
6: No topic hijacking,
7: No intollerance of other peoples views and opinions. If you take personal umbrage at an opinion, do not respond in a personal vindictive manner. Accept other peoples opinions and if you want to have a proper discussion then we applaud your efforts.
8: No personal arguing - stick to the topics. If another poster does not understand or agree with your point after 3 or 4 attempts, LET IT GO, WALK AWAY. It is very boring for other posters when the thread gets hijacked by two people having an argument.
9: Don't overuse the quote function. Usually it is quite clear what you are responding to. If you do use the quote function, edit out irrelevant text, leaving just the bit you are responding to. This helps make the forum tidier and the pages load more quickly.
10: Do NOT come on to this forum and abuse the sport of rugby or attempt to denigrate the game or its fans. Immediate suspension will ensue without warning.

:lmao: Fucking arseclowns. Imagine plagiarising someone else's forum rules, word for word!? And these guys have a commercial set-up. Call my lawyer.

Jeez Scarfy, I think the G&GR masses need to mobilise.

Everybody, down coffee mugs and donuts; prepare for the Peoples Rebellion!

Since we in Rugby are supposed to be the brainy, uni degree qualified and commercially aware type of sports fan, surely someone on this board can lead the charge...???

:lmao:

Can someone draft a "cease and desist and shove it up your arse" letter for me?
Judging by the form on the Live Score calls most weekends, I feel G&GR has many eminently qualified members who could draft such a letter. And (usually ;)) more than 1 to proof read it for spelling and punctuation.

Mind you, imitation is a very good sign of respect and admiration.
Thats my analysis anyway

Yeah - lawyers send me a PM and rates. If that fails, I'll go on a hunger strike. RW - you might want to have a word.

And just to back myself up here, you can compare Jason Akermanis and John Eales on the subject of sexuality in sport.

You can throw in all the homophobic stuff that on the Footy Show and top it all off with a gangbang with all your mates.

The funniest thing is that they kept the "no bagging rugby" rule.

Tahu played his best rugby for OZ A and based on availabilities and squad size earned his callup tohe Wallabies IMO.

It's always controversial when a high profile league player makes the Wallabies "so quickly" and people tend to ask questions and speculate on "return of investment", "he has to play because were paying him x hundred thousand a minute", "his profile will win fans" blah blah.

But Tahu had his moments in the sun, but for the most part he seemed to struggle with the fundamentals of hitting rucks and running a good line at a good speed. He relied heavily on the catch fflat-footed and try and muscle his way through the defensive line. Wallabies and Tahs never seemed to know where his best position was because he had defensive issues (could tackle front on like most leaguies, but couldn't slide to save himself) and didn't readily see IMO that he was a flat track bully.

It will be interesting how he goes on his non-regular side tomorrow night.

i liked this one from that article scarfy

At one point I asked the group if they had copped any sledges from their opponents to which they replied, "Oh, occasionally we get call 'f***king pooftas', but that's more because we come from the Eastern Suburbs than because we are gay."

BRILLIANT!

also i saw that doco before about them, seem they have a great culture at that club.
