This has been a good game of footy to watch.

Pity the Red team lost.

Apparently the Canes are now the top NZ team.

Game.
Barrett nails a long range penalty and it's 35-21 with a minute to go.
Scoreline won't reflect how close this game was.
Hurricane's are finishing with a wet sail.

When the Canes were in possession, it was like the All Blacks vs Japan.

The Reds are shit.
Cooper showing all the frailties of yesteryear and Genia was average.

Canes should have won by 20+.

The past loss of Taylor as defence coach has been a big one. One of the most stark differences between the Reds from 2011/12 to now.

Definitely. I think he will be better for his time in Scotland, but I look forward to him coming home.

Really fun bit of play from both teams as they kept the ball alive a couple of minutes after the 80. Canes opting to tap and go on a couple of penalties, good to see.

The Reds look both to be a lot less fit than previous years and also much more poorly coached. Many more displays like that and Graham must be gone. Diabolical on defence and that is Graham's area. Poor on attack too.

Dumb decisions by the coaches too - why start Daley?

Just head scratching all round.

I don't know why players play if it's always the coach's success/fault. Is it a possibility that the 2011/12 Reds' opposition were concentrating on something else at the time?

What - like not playing football? That was a rubbish trolling comment.

I'd respond if I even had a clue what you are on about. But I'll give it a crack, as I am in a generous mood.
Defence coach leaves, defence gets worse, reasonable observation to make.
Oh wait, I'm guessing it's saying the Reds title was marked with an asterisk because it was the RWC year.
Thanks for that if so.
You're nothing if not consistent.

Why scratch??

RG was poor in almost every dimension of coaching and selection and team motivation at the Force, why would he be a man transformed at the Reds? Why were you and others expecting him to do so much better at the Reds?

This is the question no one here seems to want to answer or address.

I'm not trying to bag him, but CFS really needs to improve his ball security - he coughs it up way too much. Dynamic runner, but just too loose.

Yeah defintely. Although he was put in some pretty bad positions tonight. "Here you go mate, what can you do."

The two things with the Reds defensive display were that they sat back on the gain line and they did not cover the ruck area well.

The former has been how Graham has had the Reds defending all year.

At the end, all I wanted to see was him pin his ears back, and put a big fend on, but he stuttered, and dropped it. Plenty of time to learn.

Scoreline won't reflect how close this game was.

From my armchair, the game just didn't seem close even though the scoreline was for large parts of the game.

Reds defence was all over the shop. Some players coming in, some staying in the line, it really lacked cohesion. The back 3 got exposed and didn't seem to be on the same page.

You knew that if the Canes could make their passes stick that they would score.
