While I was watching the ITM and pondering how to help those adverse to the UC Canberra Vikings colours but willing to show their support, right there on my screen appeared a potential idea. One that could even be used as a fundraiser for Canberra Rugby.

So this what I spotted:

Which lead me to think what about if the UC Canberra supporters had Vikings helmets?

As an offering of peace we could allow UC Canberra Vikings supporter to paint their "clan" (aka: club) colours on their helmets and still be showing their support for the UC Canberra Vikings team.

If someone in the Canberra rugby community was to source them and sell them as as part of a fund raiser for local club / junior rugby ready for the televised home game , IMO its a win - win.

I have included a preview of a crowd shot of UC Canberra Vikings game with supporters wearing their helmets.

So thoughts people? (be gentle!)

That would be cool but have them pre-painted to the different clubs..

Wondering who will partner Staniforth in the second row and who will be on the bench. Carter is obviously not available and I think I heard that Clousten was injured (is this right?). Looking a bit short on for Locks unless the unnamed one is now known. Or will Smiler move into lock?

Not sure if Christian will be available. Won't be at all surprised if Link takes him to Auckland as a spare in case of late injury.

Back row is looking strong with Aeulua, Butler, Smiler, Perry, Cree and Doyle. A couple of these will be unlucky to miss out some games.

Leali'ifano is certainly a strong chance of being taken to Auckland but it would also be a shame for him not to play the NRC game.

From what I can work out the only options that allow everyone to play is to have Horwill and Betham play on Thursday night for Brisbane City and Sydney Stars respectively and then fly them over on Friday morning.

Correct. Clouston did his knee in the Grand Final.

I doubt Smiler will move to lock since I can't recall him ever playing there and has been a 6. The last remaining lock is Dave McKern.

I doubt Link will take Lilo to Auckland. He's nowhere near the team and in case of injury to a 10/12 surely the Wallabies would be better to inject McCabe off the bench at 12 and Betham to the wing off the bench.

Lilo's form has been average in general, but even more average in showing he can make a quick impact. Plus he's really only a reserve 12 option now.

Taking Betham and Horwill would mean both can play NRC and be in Auckland the day before the game. Seems like the best option to me.

Agree about Christian's present status, but I think Link will want a reserve for the bench in case of injury at training or in the warmup. Just like Big Kev to be reserve for the bench lock. The alternative to Christian could well be Betham as Braveheart says above.

Swap your 6 and 8 around and you may have it, remember Butler started at 8 when Poey was fit. Speaking of Poey which team was he assigned too or just not assigned because of injury.

Pocock isn't assigned. I don't believe he's expected to play.

Cheers, could be a great face of the NRC, They should be dragging his arse around games and maybe get him in the Fox box for commentating.

Even though his been out of the game his still one of the bigger names in our sport.

Where's Rory Arnold at the moment?

Edit: Nevermind........

Arnold is recovering from a shoulder reconstruction and hasn't played in almost 12 months. He hopes to be fit to play in the last rounds of the National Rugby Championships for the Vikings.

Cree has played some 2nd row for Tuggeranong in the past. Dunno if he's back from injury though as he missed the John I Dent GF

Surely we can get another good lock from John I Dent Cup into the squad instead of placing guys out of position.
