Maybe he's a good candidate to replace POB?

He's got a few years of super rugby reffing in him. I'd guess he'll help out up and coming refs in Currie Cup/Super Rugby for a few years. Then decide whether or not to go further. He is a smart guy (optometrist I think).

It looks like they might be changing the role of referee manager slightly. But if it's anything similar I'd like to see Lyndon Bray have a go. There could be good NH candidates we are unaware of though.

I hope Lyndon Bray doesn't get anywhere near the IRB head of referees as IMO he has done a poor job with super rugby. Think they should go with retired NH referee (Chris White?) for the next 5 years. Whoever replaces Paddy we should all be hoping that they restore the reputation of the position as independent as Paddy sullied it after the Italy v New Zealand test of 2008 with his public rebuke of Stu Dickinson.
