Betham has some skills but I prefer Kingston as a more reliable player and a better defender.

Pete had a good game against the Cheetahs and had other fine dodgy moments but he has had a good run and it's time for Kingston to get another shot.

No harm would have been done to Kingston, at his age, for being benched: it's part of growing up as a professional player. I like the way that Cheika has dabbled with his bench and given different players a go, and I haven't noticed any harmful effects from it.

I have some sympathy for Hougaard. He is a running 9 and it is hard to attack from half back when the outside backs are coming forwards.

Just watch him closely he give himself away when he is going to kick. He plants his leading foot (right foot) and takes one step to get on his left foot to execute the kick. He tendencies give him away to the opposition.

He's a make-shift halfback who generally compensates with his athleticism. He was electric on the wing, shame he insists on playing 9.

Box kicking is the only thing they are interested in. Cause he likes to sky them he is falling out of favor. That is South African rugby sadly

FH is cursed by vesatility. In the test matches he started in last year Hougaard played on the wing half the time and scrumhalf for the other half.

He would be better as a scrummie if he played there all the time to hone a few skills, as he would be as a winger just by always playing there.

If you put your hand on your heart you wouldn't say he was an outstanding test player in either position but as a player in a test matchday squad he is priceless to the coach, because he can justify having a 5/2 bench.

But it would be a brave coach who dropped Vermaak from the starting Bulls XV, except just to rest him against a lesser team. He is in cracking form.

Vermaak is going to be coached into box kicking. Its hard for a 9 to attack if the outside backs are forwards and not a flat 10 or a winger at a angle.

May have been on the beer all day through Sydney Cup, dinner, drinks but I reckon we're going to do it tonight. C'mon Tahs! Bring it home!

First kick off, Steyn kicks to Foley, he kicks out on the full. Bulls penalty from the line out. Bad start Tahs.
