It was one of the best games from Valentine in a while. He seems to have dropped the interminable wait with the ball at the back of the ruck while he organises the forwards.

Giteau won 'man of the match' and was apparently 'back to his best' according to Friend...

Really?

I thought he looked ok early on the game but failed to create the opportunities for the backs...

His right to left passing was Burgess quality... and a few too many hospital passes...

His general kicking was pretty good, aside from that one that went too far...

But like last year this game was won with the Brumbies' forwards...

Giteau kicked for goal well, but didn't try to make opportunities for his backs. He just had a go and passed when he ran out of space

Best work of the match was the Fanifo try, well constructed team effort,

Palmer struggled to keep up the intensity after he started to get tired, good first 30 though

Coleman, wonderful individual try, near invisible for the second half

Giteau...

Yup. He looked sparky when he had a go, and drifted sideways whenever he was passing. If playing 10 is about trying to get through half-gaps around the edge of the ruck, he certainly gave it a shake::).

While a burly bloke on a small bike might be a bit of a giggle, Palmer has bigger two-wheel ambitions. By year's end he hopes to have bought a Harley-Davidson (''They look good. I want one'') and grown his beard long enough to plait.

Guiteau started off well taking the ball on the front foot, this got his backs going forward. After half time he looked like he was standing deep and flat-footed every time he got the ball, then just shovelled the ball on.
