I was derided all last year for saying that Alexander had massive flaws in his technique, a fact that is becoming more and more apparent.

So was I. Alexander was problematic for the Brumbies in 2011 at LHP and also for the Wallabies at THP.

Some tall props are able to counter shorter opponents getting under them but Benny appears to get lower by having his feet further back. Unless the forces meet just so, he will hinge down a lot. I'm no scrum guru but in my tiny mind - if he's going to have a real go at LHP I'd at least like to see him being stood up as much as he hinges down.

I agree. Allowing for the Tah's up and down start to the season I'd say he's been very good.

As a side note; In the last couple of games I've really noticed the lack of Horne. Straight running, great lines, hard defense. I find myself praying for his muscular-skeletal structure to be replaced with something more durable than hand blown glasswork.

In that case Konze, Alexander should not get picked. In fact I would assert that Kepu should be picked in an extended squad long before Alexander who is a set piece liability.

I tend to agree with you as Kepu was not in mind when I posted but the shoe does fit. He has had a good year.

Kepu is definitely not getting the credit he deserves for last night's scrum performance. No LHP in the Super league who has played Palmer has got parity (Crocket and Ben Franks got creamed) - until Kepu. On last night's display, if we were taking four props to the WC they would be Robinson, Palmer, Slipper and Kepu. Kepu this year is showing why he should have gone on the EOYT instead of some of the scrumming liabilities we took and paid for in spades. His Shute form at the end of last season was outstanding both scrumming and in the loose and this year he has stepped up again. Not for nothing has he been keeping Robinson on the bench and Foley is a better tight five judge than just about anyone.

So credit where it's due - he's way in front of Daley and Alexander at LHP. And I am assuming no one but Deans wants Alexander anywhere near the tight head side.

Just wanted to bump this comment. After the Tahs showing on the weekend in the scrum with Kepu at THP winning a tighthead. Surely Deans et al have to be taking a very long hard look at Mr Alexander who was again penalised heavily.

Just wanted to bump this comment. After the Tahs showing on the weekend in the scrum with Kepu at THP winning a tighthead. Surely Deans et al have to be taking a very long hard look at Mr Alexander who was again penalised heavily.

Not to mention his speed around the paddock - almost pulled off a great cover tackle on a back (forget which one) late in the game.
