The Stormers had an excellent weekend results. The Brumbies one of their most difficult opponent and not expecting anything less then a tough encounter.

The Brumbies performed well after their Kamp Staaldraad and loook like turning their season around.

Meanwhile the Stormers based themself in Sydney and will be praying for Grant to be ready for this one. We lost our third best flyhalf in the Bluesers match and Duvenhage impressed helping out in 10. Will be interesting to see if Coetzee gets it right in this match. Duanne Vermeulen look like in need of a rest and important that Coetzee start using his talented youngsters to rotate and giving his top stars a bit of a recharge. Important to start with Koster (Vermeulen), Kitshoff (Blaauw), Liebenberg (Fourie), JdJ (JdV) and Klein Johann (Fourie). This lot showed they are ready for S15 level and need to get rewarded for their play last week. You need to keep their confidense up.

It's confirmed that Rocky Elsom has syndesmosis on his left ankle and is highly unlikely to play against the Stormers on Saturday.
The extent of the injury won't be known until tomorrow or later in the week.

The Stormers will have to do without the services of Springbok prop CJ van der Linde for the remainder of their tour, but the good news is that first-choice flyhalf Peter Grant looks likely to play against the Brumbies this weekend.

With Van der Linde sidelined it seems that the Cape franchise will start the game in Canberra with the two props that finished the game against the Blues last week - Wicus Blaauw and Brok Harris.

Stormers forwards coach Matthew Proudfoot confirmed to rugby365.com: "We sent CJ van der Linde home, he hasn't recovered from his groin strain so he has gone home and Frans Malherbe has joined us."

An interesting question is which hooker will play in between the two props. Deon Fourie battled to find his line-out jumpers in the first half at Eden Park and many will be calling for the inclusion of Tiaan Liebenberg, who was set to be first-choice hooker before getting injured in the pre-season, in the starting line-up.

However, Proudfoot was loathe to pin the blame for the team's poor performance in the line-outs against the Blues squarely on Fourie's shoulders.

He said: "I think it is really unfair, or quite short-sighted to blame one guy for the whole forward pack's mistakes in the line-out.

"A line-out is a system, there have to be the right options taken with the correct movement, the jumper has to be supported properly and then it is only the thrower, so a lot can go wrong in a line-out before you blame the thrower," explained Proudfoot.

The Stormers management are hopeful that Peter Grant will line up at pivot, with young Kurt Coleman providing cover on the bench, after the Springbok flyhalf trained with the rest of the team on Monday, although a final call on player fitness will be made on Tuesday.

"They all look good, they trained today so we will reassess tomorrow and see how they have recovered after the training session. As for Peter Grant we will see how he is tomorrow before we make that decision." said Proudfoot.

This means that the Springbok centre pairing of Jean de Villiers and Jaque Fourie are potential options for coach Allister Coetzee this weekend, throwing up an interesting midfield selection poser following the impressive performances of Juan de Jongh and Johann Sadie against the Blues.

Hopefully Kimlin will regain his spot in the starting XV, but I assume back 5 will be something like:

Wires crossed. Sam is the son of Dave Carter who played 6 or 8 for the Wallabies in the late 80's. He was on that tour to France when Horan and Little first combined in the centres for Oz in 1989, which is how I remember him strangely enough.

Bruce - you picked Sam Carter as a player of promise for Super rugby. Good spotting; am looking forward to him getting a run.
