don't mind that. My one suggestion would be that fuck the lineouts. The breakdown is where it is won.

Let's start Gill at 7 and Robinson at 6. Or Beau at 7 with Quirk at 6. Time to be more aggressive at the break down.

It will be interesting to see whether Dave McDuling can work his way into getting a start this season. Aggression at the breakdown and around the park is his go.

Assuming Hynes and Davies are out, I'd go with:

1. Holmes
2. Hanson - Fainga'a has been quiet in first two games
3. Slipper
4. Simmons
5. Humphries
6. Shatz - need more pace in the backrow so can't afford Higginbotham and Houston in starting team or if Shatz is not fit Quirk
7. Robinson - think it's time to play a specialist #7
8. Higginbotham - or Houston with the other on the bench
9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Toua - or Davies if he's fit
12. Harris - Quade is being heavily marked so I'd like to see another playmaker in the team to give another option which may get Quade some more room
13. Chambers - I thought he was okay against the Tahs
14. Ioane
15. Lucas - did quite well against the Tahs and can cover #9

16. S Fainga'a
17. Daly
18. McDuling
19. Gill
20. Houston
21. A Fainga - has been quiet in first two games without doing anything wrong but for reason noted above I think a second playmaker is required
22. Morahan

Quirk would be unlucky to miss out but I believe we need a specialist #7 on bench and based on 2010 Shatz would be above Quirk for me at #6

here's the QLD A team to play Tonga tonight:

QAS Reds 2nd XV team (from fullback): Luke Morahan, Kimami Sitauti, Simon Morahan, Ben Tapuai (c), Dom Shipperley, Matt Brandon, Ian Prior, Jake Schatz, Liam Gill, Ben Coridas, Adam Wallace-Harrison, David McDuling, Guy Shepherdson (vc), Albert Anae, Kevin Davis

Reserves: Andrew Coady, Shon Siemonek, Sam Denny, Tim Buchanan, Blake Enever, Nick Frisby, Mitchell Felsman

you'd think Morahan, Tapuia, the two young wingers maybe, Schatz, Gill, possibly Coridas, both locks, and Shepherdson are al serious contenders for the squad to take on the Brumbies.

Pretty good team that. Good to see Wallace-Harrison and Coridas back from injury. Lance is obviously away on Sevens duty.....pity that, as I thought he has been one of the best on ground in the previous two A games. You would think Schatz will get pulled early to keep him fresh for Saturday. It will be telling to see who else 'earns' an early shower.

Through my untrained eyes, a couple areas areas of improvement required for the Reds are:

1. Genia's service has to be quicker! Far too often he took too long over the ball, allowing the opposition defence to regroup so when he eventually passed, his runner got smashed, and if he took a few steps he got smashed.
2. Need a fetcher!! Have been owned at the breakdown two weeks running, both in attack and defence.
3. Less one off the ruck stuff. Very predictable, and you will get smashed, particularly if ball is slow.
4. Ball security. We just lost the ball in contact far too many times.

There's probably plenty of other things to consider but improving on the above will help IMO.

Who has been performing better between Shipperley and Morahan? I know Morahan will be picked first, and so he should - but it sounds as if Dominic is doing some good things. Shatz has to play this week. I love the thought that Shep is preparing to rip shreds off people because he can see an opportunity.

Not taking squad balance into account, who do we think is the number two, 12 in the squad pecking order? Tapuai or Harris?

This is what the Brumbies team should be this weekend, but probably won't:

1. Alexander
2. Moore
3. Palmer
4. Hand
5. Chisholm
6. Kimlin
7. Fainga'a
8. Vaea
9. Valentine
10. To'omua
11. Fainifo
12. Giteau
13. Ashley-Cooper
14. A Smith
15. McCabe

16. Edmonds
17. Ma'afu
18. Salvi
19. Hooper
20. White
21. Coleman
22. T Smith

Although it would make the most sense to directly replace Chapman with Kimlin Friend simply won't just to frustrate Brumby fans...

Phibbs has to be dropped after his performance last weekend...

Not the most balanced bench but it's what's left and Tyrone deserves a chance more than Speight...

Assuming To'omua doesn't start and Giteau leaves the field, who would cover the kicking duties?

It's still early days no need for the Reds to hit panic stations. Our problem is in the forwards well more the backrow & securing quick ruck ball. We still made plenty of clean linebreaks against the Tahs only too stuff it up with a hail mary when what we needed was to take the tackle & recycle.

My 22 for the Brumbies would be.
1.Holmes
2.Hanson
3.Slipper
4.Simmons
5.Humphries
6.Higginbotham
7.Robinson
8.Houston
9.Genia (c)
10.Cooper
11.Ioane
12.Fainga'a
13.Chambers
14.Morahan
15.Toua

res: 16.Fainga'a 17.Daley 18.Wallace-Harrison 19.Schatz 20.Lucas 21.Harris 22.Sitauti

I'm pretty keen to see Hanson get a run he's a very dynamic hooker who seems hard to knock over in the tackle sought of reminds me of an old league hooker at Manly called Jim Sedaris.

Hanson & Daley are very similar around the park but I'm sure how the scrum would go.

10. To'omua

watched To'omua tonight v fiji and he didn't do much. He had very little to offer in attack and his kicking was very off.

I'd have gilly at least on the bench, and depending on trial form would also give schatz a run in lieu of houston. Interesting you went for wallace-harrison over samo, seeing as i haven't seen either of them play for a while I have no idea which one is higher on the pecking order at the moment?

Whats toua's kicking and defence like at the back?

Why? What has Gits done to cement his place?

MoM against Chiefs, not far behind McCabe for Brumbies best against Rebels. Kicking has been great. I don't care about last years form, so far this season he has played well, and deserves his spot over To'omua, as does Coleman.

I quite like that line up Disco - as you said it's still early days and it would probably not be a great idea to unsettle the combinations in the team - Toua for Hynes and Morahan for Davies make sense and are straight swaps. Ditto Hanson who has shown that he is worth a punt.

I think the key for the Reds right now is the backrow - gee Braid certainly made the team sheet look better last year, it just doesn't seem to gel this year.

You should preface that with IMO.

Many others around the place are still saying, and rightly so IMO, he should be at 12. I should add that if his form means he cannot displace Coleman from 12 then he goes to the bench.

MOTM against the Chiefs in a woeful team performance against a team that did everything that it could to lose, including dropping what, 4 tries?

The seeds of the defeat to the Rebels could be seen in the Chiefs game.

Giteau cannot manage the backline...

He runs sideways and kicks too much...

He was poor against the rebels... He didn't learn the first few times that kicking to Gerrard was a bad idea so he continued to do it...

Coleman was quiet... He'll get his chances and doesn't need to be rushed...

The Brumbies will continue to struggle with scoring tries if Giteau remains at flyhalf...
