Good tough win by the Brumbies, poor captaincy by Dennis in 2nd half. 10 mins to go, 9 points down with a penalty on the 15, 20 out - a converted try only gets you 7 Dave, you still have to come back and score again.

One law I'd love to see changed - remove the scrum option when teams receive a penalty or free kick.

Lol nice call he just had a bitch about scrums

Well, you either penalise incorrect scrum feeds or you don't. Not that I think that cost the Waratahs the game, it's just the sort of thing which gets coaches and fans annoyed though.

That's the rote wisdom.
But say Peyper was on the other side and saw Nic White feed the second row (which Peyper had been looking at all night) and the Tahs got a FK, ran it down into Brumbies territory and got a penalty, kicked it and won? Not entirely fanciful.
Maybe it would have looked a genius move?
I'm not sure, although I was calling for them to go the points at the time.
At least Cheika has faith in their decisions.

Glass door to the coaches box may have been damaged by catching a gust of wind.

Cracked glass was shown on the Post Game wrap up on Fox Tel.

Jaco talked up his attention to feeds, and missed a howler at the end, or his ARs did, but they were useless all night. Bernie made a comment about not having enough players on the field in the 2nd half - like that was someone else's fault too!
I'd personally rather some colour from the coaches than anodyne beige sound-bites. Good on 'em.

Certainly possible, but tends to prove my point - you have to score twice to win the game.

They took about 4 minutes to score the try and kick the goal and the Brumbies took a minute to get to halfway and kick off, so instead of having 10 mins to score the second time they had 5. In this day and age a scrum takes 2 minutes from the awarding of the scrum to conclusion (or more if a reset). A couple of scrums and you've almost got no time, so you can: hope the ref gives you a kickable penalty (the Waratahs have experienced the pain of this before), kick a field goal or score a try. I just think it's making a hard job more difficult.

Would need to see Cheika swinging to believe it was him. Too easy for a random Twit to make some shit up for a few retweets when it was really a gust of wind.

Can the Tahs afford to replace that? Funds are tight? Pass the hat on the bus on the way home, I think!

Just add $5 to the levy on junior clubs, let the kids pay for it.

To clarify, I'm talking more about the post match press conferences than the smashed door. Smashed door is rather amusing if true, though!

NSW RU absorbed the $200 fine imposed by the ARU on 5 year olds who want to chase each other around on Saturday Mornings.

NSW RU (owners of the Tahs licence) are not in the habit (so far) of using 5 year olds to cover gaps in their budget.

I like his honesty but he does bitch fit a lot. As for the door, in the world of the everyday person I think that is called vandalism.

Congratulations to the Brumbies. Their superior line speed in defence set up their win, stifling the Tahs' attack. They've provided a blue print as to how to stem the flow of Tahs' points. The Brumbies took their chances well and deserved their dominant 20-9 half time lead.

IMO To'omua was the best player on the park when he was yellow carded. He had plenty of mates though, the Brumbies forward park worked superbly in unison and their set piece was a highlight.

I had the sense throughout that the Tahs could come back if they could get parity with possession which was needed given that they were losing the set piece. To their credit they never gave up, contrary to the toweling they received in Canberra last season. Palu was immense.

Although I'm cut by the loss the game was an excellent Saturday night advert for the code. Great to see how the media bought into the Tahs-Brumbies rivalry all week. Coupled with the Force's away win tonight I look forward to seeing the fans turn out in numbers to see how the enthralling fight for the top 2 possies in the Oz conference pans out.
