So what game would pull a crowd in Canberra?
Fans who didn't attend won't be mad to be fair but amazes me how top of the table team in an emotional grudge match with jakes new team can't pull a crowd.
Why can' t the Wararahs pull 132,000 which is the pro rata crowd on a population basis?

On the game itself, the conditions were bad and I thought it was amazing that there were relatively few handling errors. When I got to the game I was expecting quite a bit of dropped ball.

Well just watching second half this morning, still a wee struggle, I actually changed channels and watched Asia cup at halftime last night. I lovr=e rugby and have watched plenty of games in the wet that weren't too exciting, but I still expect a bit better skills than I saw there.

Stadium constraints would prevent them from getting in.
Never mentioned the Tahs but yes they should be at 30,000 a game.
Agree. A more conveniently located stadium would be huge.

My god the South African teams have seemingly all reverted back to horrible looking rugby.

this is a recurring argument. i guess you need something special to get 15K+ in the stadium. After all, having the smaller population area of all S15 provences in Australia, we might have punched above our weight in terms of results so far. Still hard to get people from under the doona to turn up.

Miserable weather, that only Canberra and Melbourne can produce, didn't stop a bunch of half naked RuckUS lads turning up and supporting their team. Closest thing we have to The Zoo in Oz.

Sydney has 3 enormous universities within 4 km of Moore Park (UNSW, Sydney Uni, and UTS) and yet ..... nothing from their Students. There should be a concerted effort by Tahs marketing interns to engage the university student population of Sydney.

I suspect, for many students at 2 of those institutions, and probably the other too, rugby is not "their game". I mean, you hardly get many at a Sydney Uni home game.
Dunedin is somewhat different.

I doubt any other team in the comp would've beaten the 'shit rugby' played by the Brumbies tonight.
It wasn't "shit" at all, it was just ugly to watch. It was Championship rugby - grind the win. There's a difference. I think some of the Sharks' play was a bit shit, namely their total lack of any coherent attack plan.

What a fascinating table this year!

Crusaders should beat the Reds and if they can roll the Sharks we could see the Brumbies at the top, followed by the Force, and the Waratahs move to 6.

Brumbies looking good for home final and will be hard to beat in Canberra.

Haven't watched game as yet, but for perspective's sake, I would suggest it was far better than the ballet I was inflicted with last night

To be successful at times you need to play what you have to play to get a win, even if its not pretty. Its was wet so it was going to be a a game mainly for the pigges with lots of kicking as an error was going to most likely turn the game. For those banging on about "running rugby" is the be all and end all and that game was crap, as were the teams, these teams will be in the finals and that's what counts. Its pretty pathetic to bag the top 2 teams after a tight ugly game considering both are the highest try scorers in their conferences, both sit at the top of the table and will most likely make the finals.

He was barely more attractive last year at the brumbies to be fair as well. And let's not forget his style of play in the lead up to and including 2007.
Great call by ARU

The unforced errors is what get to me. Steyn and White, both made several terrible mistakes kicking out of hand.

I dips me lid to the supporters, how anybody could sit through a game like that in the weather that prevailed is too much for me to get my head around. Okay, its better to win ugly than lose pretty, but please Soup coaches, remember that you are primarily in the entertainment business, and there is an awful lot of competition.

In SA football is the only competition. There is also a colour split with Rugby and Football, No SA Rugby supporter is ever going to worry about whether the game is entertaining or not. Its only in Australia that entertainment is an issue. As far as SA and NZ is concerned, winning is everything. NZ only plays more attractive rugby because they think they'll win more often playing that way.

That's the issue that the ARU confronts. Coaches get fired if they don't win. So Jake White was the Messiah in Canberra despite not giving a stuff how it looked. Unless the ARU forces coaches to play entertaining rugby by firing them if they don't, nothing will change.
