Brumbies v Reds rd1 SR2013

very nervous about this game brumbies are pretty much able to field their best side and aren't missing any real pivotal players.

Reds are coming in without a fully firing kev and also have no genia or samo.

These injuries do not bode well for the reds attack, as alot of momentum is created by Samo and Genia darting from the scrum and ruck base.

I think the reds have quality there to grind out a win but psychologically i feel they are at a disadvantage.

This game is going to be won up front and the reds forward pack are going to really need to step up and be accounted for. Pocock was immense playing for a losing team in the force. I can only manage the damage he could do playing for a rampant brumbies pack........fingers crossed he and lealifano sleep in.......to 7 o'clock at night

Hard to call this one.
Reds have an advantage in terms of experience in tight games, while the Brumbies have the home advantage and pretty much their top side in the game.
I think how well Pocock plays the match will be decisive for the Brumbies.
Being the first match of the season, some silly plays may occur. The team making less mistakes will win.

I think the Reds are coming if off a better Prep. The Ponies played a rebuilding Force team up north and then a second string team last week. In contrast the Reds have had 2 hard hitouts against the Blues and Chiefs.
I'm expecting a big game from Cooper who looked in great shape on Friday nigh in the ring and he seems to chance his arm more when he's in a confident mood.
It's a great looking Brumbies team though. They look really well balanced. Am a big fan on Kimlin at 6.

I'm glad we're getting the Canberra game out of the way early this season, the weather won't be as much of a factor as it is playing there in the dead of winter. I'm not too concerned about the players the Reds are missing, in the past few seasons the blokes to come in for them have stepped up to the mark without barely a hitch. It'll be close & possibly ugly but the Reds by 8 for mine.

I would say the pecking order for 13 right now is Smith > Kuridrani > Rathbone >Tomane

And then there's McCabe still to come back.........

I do know what you mean, but sometimes a player doesn't do anything to deserve to be sitting on the bench. Sometimes another player just does something that makes them more deserving of the spot on the pitch.

It's going to be very interesting how the halves for the Reds perform together in this game.
Ben Lucas shouldn't be underrated. He is a very good all round player and was the reds half back before Wil Ginea came onto the scene, a halfback that has stamped himself as the world's best (Kiwis will undoubtedly beg to differ).
Apparently Lucas played both of his trial games extremely well in both attack and defence.
He has had a complete pre-season to train in the position, with Ginea giving him clues on his techique.
It could have been better of he's had the opportunity to play more than one game with Cooper, but having said that, they do know each others' game from the past.
Because I feel that this halves combination will outclass the Brumbies' halves, I suspect it is from this that the Reds will win on Saturday night.

Big blow for the Reds. No Samo and Horwill leaves a rather large hole in the pack but be great to see some new faces step up - looking at you Ed Quirk. I think the Reds will remain competitive at the start but will worry about the pigs losing impact towards the end. Am expecting them to play wide and use there advantage in the backs. What's the weather forecast?

Ginea sounds like some sort of alcoholic fungal infection.
