It's these kinds of performances that make people want neutral referees........

I'm glad that the Brumbies won because that was the worst, most inconsistent performance from a referee I've had to endure this year........

I hope this is my one and only rant for 2013........

Blue, they remind me of Reds about 2003, they just seem to do the same thing everytime they get the ball, there seems to be no imagination. It's just a thought I had while watching the game, I felt exactly as I did watching Reds in that era. I not sure what Jon Preston is doing as attack coach, bit it's not very much!!

Considering their accuracy from long range, I really wish the Brumbies had gone for the line instead of the 60m penalty attempt........

Hell, I didn't see that he was that bad, maybe I just too soft on Refs, as I just didn't see him being that bad!! Mind you I must admit I don't usually find them as bad as some spectators on rugby forums in general.

My take on the game:
Pollock was poor for both sides but it seemed the Brumbies adapted better after half time with his calls and interpretations. Some of the advantages given were very generous in some cases.

The Brumbies will need to address their giving away of penalties because it will cost them against better teams. It looked closer than it needed to be at the end but other aspects of their defence were outstanding.

George Smith MUST be involved with the Wallabies in 2013 in some capacity.

Not scoring a 4th try with plenty of time left was a bit disappointing but a win away, anywhere, is good.

If being neutral citizen was such a critical aspect to officiating a super rugby game then you wouldn't feel in a position to make that claim. But let's not let facts get in the way of a good story.

I say bring Bryce out of retirement and put him on the next Brumbies v SA game, because undoubtedly any neutral ref is better than a superior local ref.

The obsession with neutral reffing was one factor in appointing Bryce to our world cup quater final. And we all know how well that worked. The one thing rugby needs is to head more in that direction. I completely agree.

I hope this isn't my only rant of the year. This is a crisis and we mustn't stop raising the issue until at least triple the current amount in order to fly refs all over the globe in the name of neutrality.

True. My solution was all over the place. If Pollock was too incompetent for this game and he's NZ's best ref then what will bringing another kiwi out of retirement achieve?

If elected I promise to bring Stu out of retirement to boost the referee ranks in these tough times.

And my reaction was probably a little harsh........

Forgive any comments I make from here on in because I've moved onto the good stuff........ ;)

Moving on from the whole referee thing........

Hayden Parker is going to have nightmares about George Smith for some time.........

Stu was terrible, that's why he was dropped.

This game was just the exact bloody thing that has happened every week. The Highlanders have made too many mistakes, the refs have given the rub of the green to the opposition, every opposition team has played well against us, seriously, EVERY team has played solidly against us. Oh yeah, did I mention that we have never had the better of the refs ONCE this year.

This week we got lost with 15 minutes to go. Attack coach, where art thou?

Tanaka played well, did what Smith should have been doing. Smith's try doesn't make up for being slower than Tanaka at the rucks. Anyway, I think we just need to plain old stop dropping the ball and get just one slice of luck and we'll be golden.

You've not listened to your Saffer commentators then? ;)

Why make this a country thing? Touchy?

I don't like all the SA comms at all but not one of them comes close to this guy.

I just think Nisbett is the most biased commentator in all of rugby. Never has a good thing to say about any opposition.
