I don't want to be too rude to the great man, but I thought Mortlock looked pedestrian out there. Behind the pace, falling off tackles and taking poor options. If he continues like that he may not finish this season as a XV Brumby, let alone Wallaby.

At one point he was next to Alexander in defense and they both rushed out of the line. Alexander was quicker

Funny you say that Blue. I was thinking during the game that Mortock is so slow. I thought to myself, I reckon Elsom is quicker. Then I thought, hell, even Alexander is probably quicker.

His mind and body appear to be behind the game at the moment. It is unlikely to get any better.

The Brumbies really dominated the 2nd half but they really need to turn possesion into points Patrick Phibbs needs to know when to send it wide & when to keep it tight.

Well done Huxley he had a great game probably one of the best on ground.

Well done Brumbies. There were moments when they looked like the Brumbies of old - not enough of them, but they were good to see.

Well done to Huxley also. This was no retirement party for a has been player who got dealt a bad hand. It was a tough Super14 game and he not only held his own but also was one of the best players.

I was also impressed by the two 18 y.o. fetchers, Hooper and Fainga'a, and the full game played by Matt To'omua. Phibbs didn't have a perfect game as he dithered too much on the Chief's goal line and should have launched the backs more, but he was damn good in other parts of the game. He'd have to be the best reserve scrummie in Oz Super14 teams.

It wasn't a perfect game by the home team by any means. In the first half there were two many incursions by the Chiefs around the rucks. The Kiwis must have looked at what the Blues did last week. In the 2nd half the Brumbies should have scored more tries. In particular, after been giving penalty advantage they could have hoisted a kick wide to the in-goal area, a la rugby league, or at least dished the pill out. They could have come back for the penalty if it didn't work.

Instead the Chiefs were allowed stay in the game.

The Chiefs were just as mediocre in some parts of the game though their defence on the line in the 2nd half was tops. They must drive their fans spare though. Scrummie Leonard was good as was Kahui but Lauaki looked like a fatty from a comic book.

Referee Peyper was better than in his curious exhibition in Perth last week and I'm not just saying that because the Brumbies won. The Chiefs were lucky they didn't get a card for repeated infringements on their goal line, on the other had that last try by the Brumbies looked a bit dodgy. But much better Peyper.

I know that Brumbies watching Tah games is heresy, but if they'd watched the game against the Bulls they would have seen that the referees are not rewarding scrum dominance, just endlessly resetting or playing on. So when your scrum is totally on top taking lots of scrums can be counter-productive. I think some of the close-in work tonight was exactly that. When you are on top you need to convert that into points and the Brumbies did not, ergo no bonus point and only one for the season.

I was really impressed by the both the number 7s. Very exciting time for the future of Australian Rugby.
I really liked how energetic Hooper was and seemed to have good natural timing about went to pop up in the right places, which will get bettter as he matures. I thought Coby had a good physical nature. Very excited by these two. Hope he keeps him both rotating.

Overall happy with the win. The best game by the Brumbies this year. The forwards need to trust the backs more, there are problems at scrum and mortlock is becming useless (he shouldn't have kicked that ball, that was stupid)

I shed man tears when Hux came on. you would of thinked that the 15000 crowd was 50000. Did anybody see the photo being taken at the end with both sides for Hux. That is truly what the spirit of rugby is all about.

Yes was quite emotional when the Hux came on. A great moment in sport and gee didn't he look good? Amazing for a bloke to have that timing having been out for so long.

Mortlock looked like he was running on the spot just before gifting that try to the Chiefs.

Overall much better pace on the ball from the Brumbies....when the forwards decided to give it wide. Phibbs was good overall but dithered as Lee said too much.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) to 13 please - although with Fanifo injured we'll need Mortlock now. Mafi could come in I guess.

McCabe is a good player and I think he's looking good for a Wallaby squad position.

I was cursing Chapman at lock during the first few scrums at the match. He was behind Alexander and the power wasn't come through...but he got better and had a good game.

Quite the return for Huxley to be thrown in early and slotting in like he has been playing all season. Its good to have a good tactical kicker back at 15 and another playmaker. Really helped our game. To'omua looked good and that was Phibbs best game. Was great to see Hooper scoring a try on debut, exciting times for the Brumbies and Aussie rugby.

Probably the only worrying thing was not converting more of territory we had into points, in the last 20 minutes we were basically camped in the Chiefs 22, managed to get the penalty to at least show something for that and then finally a try. Good win but that lack of 4 try bp is starting to stack up with a bye to come.

Fanifo out (bigger loss to randwick then to brumbies) chuck mortlock on the wing, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) at 13 and Hux at fullback

Inspiring comeback to footy by Huxley. Really seemed to lift the Brumbies when he came on.

Brumbies made hard work of it. I thought they were going to get rolled badly given how many tackles they fell off. Not a very physical team. Alexander, Moore & McCabe look to be the only blokes to impose themselves on their opponent.

The more pressing concern for the Brumbies is their toothlessness in attack. They need to stop playing rugby league.

I thought it was better but you're right.
