The Independant 22/02/10 from Report on Bath v Worcs match

"Salvi, up against the deeply committed Worcester captain, Pat Sanderson, was quite something to behold, especially in the early stages when the contest was at its most balanced. Time and again he snaffled prime possession on the floor, and armed with the best kind of attacking ball, the likes of Nick Abendanon and Joe Maddock looked a million dollars. Unfortunately for the West Countrymen, the Australian has the call of the outback ringing in his ears. Or rather, the call of Canberra, which amounts to the same thing, culturally speaking. The ACT Brumbies are very keen on his services for next year's Super 15, and Salvi is likely to accept their offer.

Breakaway forwards of his calibre do not grow on trees – Steve Meehan, the head coach, knew a thing or two when he lured Salvi to England last summer – and Bath will feel the lack of him. At least they are getting their money's worth now. A Heineken Cup qualification place beckons, and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that they will slip, ever so quietly, into the Premiership play-offs. "

Are you Brumbie bu99ers pinching our Mr Salvi???? Slimey Dingos! He's a fantastic player.

He is over there, isn't he?

Back he here's a skilled, if lightweight, back rower who never really fits into a slot long enough to make it is own.

They call that the NH v SH gap

Ignore him BOD. NTA hasn't seen Salvi play at any level and doesn't under rugby beyond the front row ;). Salvi was also good for the Brumbies but was going head to head with Smith . I rate Salvi now better than Waugh.

I was under the impression he always intended to come back to Canberra once a starting spot at the Brumbies became available. Good news if it happens - and he's an actual Canberran - an increasingly rare sight for the Brumbies these days.

Doesn't help when they leave let them (as in Canberra - or close enough to - natives) leave, eg the Finger twins. Giteau's back, though.

Besides club and provincial level. Well done to him if he's carving up in Pommieland. So do a lot of players. If he's better when he comes back, then good on him and the Brumbies.

Well at least you can't have Matt Carraro back yet, he's signed with us for another year.

I liked the look of Matt Carraro. He had some spark to his play and went well with his limited opportunities at the Tahs. I hoped he'd get more of a chance, but Tahu was in front of him last year after Horne got injured (Horne was way out of form last year before his injury away, which seems to be commonly forgotten). The Tahs could sure do with him now.

How's Carraro going for Bath?

Being nice doesn't suit you ;)

Matt and Shontayne Hape in the centre are having fun, especially during the last few weeks with Butch James back at 10.
