Brumbies 2025

Of the Brumbies contingent in the Wallabies squad, I think only Corey Toole is likely to miss selection for the first test against the Lions. In that case, I can see him being available for the Brumbies game on 9 July. From the rest of the squad, I think the likely line up for that match will look something like this :

1. Lington Ieli
2. Lachlan Lonergan
3. Feao Fotuaika
4. Toby McPherson
5. Lachlan Shaw
6. Tuaina Tualima
7. Luke Reimer
8. Charlie Cale (if fit)/Rory Scott
9. Ryan Lonergan
10. Declan Meredith
11. Corey Toole
12. David Feliuai
13. Hudson Creighton
14. Andrew Muirhead
15. Ollie Sapsford

16. Liam Bowron
17. Harry Vella/Blake Schoupp
18. Rhys Van Nek/Tevita Alatini
19. Cadeyrn Neville
20. Rory Scott/Lachlan Hooper/Judah Saumasue
21. Harrison Goddard/Klayton Thorn
22. Jack Debreczini/Austin Anderson
23. Kadin Pritchard/Shane Wilcox

Not a bad looking side with around 25 players with Super Rugby experience with 6 (I think) having Wallaby experience. They have a real shot at repeating the 2013 win imo.

Jeez Schoupp is superman to be able to recovery from a snapped Achillies so quickly!

Just had to say it didn't you Tom?

What about Charlie Cale? Is he superman also because I've listed him when his injury status is really unknown? If anyone is unfit, then it is as obvious as the nose on your face that they won't be in the side for the Lions match. QED.

A better comment might have been to look at the proximity of the Pacifica game to the Brumbies match and perhaps identify a couple/few who might be picked in that side and therefore likely to be unavailable for the Brumbies side. Players like Muirhead, Goddard, Fotuailua, Tualima, Ieli, Feliuai, Alatini and Saumasue. Might be a bit controversial, but I reckon some, maybe all, of those would prefer to play for the Brumbies in a fair dinkum match than in essentially an exhibition match.

Mate did you just copy and paste this list from somewhere? Or did you actually type Blake Schoupp’s name forgetting he raptured his Achilles like 6 weeks ago? I didn’t mention Cale because I’m not sure of his timeline. I know that a ruptured Achilles takes over 6 months. If Cale is
right to go, he will play for the Brumbs against the lions. All others are live options. Murihead will play for the First Nations/ pasifika team.

Rugby.com.au are reporting Edmed to the Brums next year as fact

it has been a key goal for the Brumby flyhalf to be fit for the Lions' tour, but what his future looks like beyond the series is unclear - with star also weighing up his next movements off the back of Tane Edmed coming to Canberra and Declan Meredith starting to get more game time as the back up flyhalf.

Seems the BIL are worried about the standard of the Aus Super Teams. So solution is Bealham & Hansen to play for Brumbies as they are locals and educated in Canberra schools.

Seriously expect 4 Wallaby players to be released for BIL game in Frost, Hooper Pollard & Toole with quarantined Slipper, Ala'alatoa, Valetini, Lolesio, Ikitau & Wright

I really doubt Pollard will be available - with Faessler released Pollard is certain to play Fiji on the 6th. I also have a feeling Toole is going to get his debut in that game, though it's far from certain.

Lolesio could be a chance though, it's unlikely but Donaldson and Lynagh are both still with the squad so there's room for it.

There's no way Frost or Pollard are going back, Hooper's 50/50 atm we shall see if he gets a run before then, then if not he will go back with Toole, like the 2 that went back for the Reds game.

Not for nothing we rested a lot of our big guns against the Dura in Fiji earlier in the year, the teams strong.. and if the Lions commit to playing at least 4 starts from the weekend on the Wednesday (guessing game time) we will send 4 of our's back.

It really seems odd to me that Faessler has been released for the Reds game. I would have liked to see three hookers, No9s and No10s retained in the Wallaby squad.

Whats the point of just 4? Its the epitome of half assed. Pesonally it annoys me that the Games were marketed as the full Super Rugby squads playing the BIL. We like so many other payed big $$ expecting to see a full strength Brumbies play the BIL, not the training or reserve squad. I regret buying tickets. RA are not doing rugby supporters any favors at all. I don't care what impact it has on the Wallibies, thats a RA shite planning and should not inpact supporters.

Sorry but when were any of these matches promoted as including the "full Super Rugby squads playing the BIL"?

Every B&I Lions Tour to NZ, SA or Australia has featured the local sides playing without a substantial amount of their test players because they are preparing for the three games in the tour that actually count.

I'm unsure how you can argue it is shit planning. It's a tour of broadly the same length each time that features broadly the same number of tour games on roughly the same schedule relative to the test matches.
