Assuming Smiler will also be lost, (has apparently signed with a Japanese side, but not sure if full time or just between seasons), then I see the 6 spot being competed for by Cusack, Hyne or one of the Oakman-Hunts. In any case, it is well covered.

I think Cusack, Pocock, Butler/Fakosolea would be a strong backrow.

Edit : And of course, Rob Valetini adds more depth there as well.
Alcock Pocock 7/8 combo would be very interesting IMHO. Alcock has some wheels on him and shown he's not bad in attack.

Yeah that backs coaching drought is really impacting teams globally. Kiwis and those forwards oriented Saffa teams like the Kings and Lions are struggling to get any attack or back-line stuff happening.

I would suggest another world wide coaching search as there is a carpark across the road from Brumbies HQ , but then again unless there are already in-house it appears we wont find them looking globally; or ones that are the right calibre of coach to be at the same level of McKellar apparently.

Now what was it the Brumbies CEO said?

The Brumbies were inundated with applications from around the world, including former Test mentors, after Larkham announced he was leaving the post.
"There were a couple of things that stood out very clearly in Dan's application," said Brumbies boss Michael Thomson.

Must have been just too many applications to sort through hey?

Real shame we cant even get someone who has some level of backs coaching experience even if it was a "has been" like Damien Hill.

Cant help but ask at this point if the Brumbies do hire Lord Laurie, have Rhino and Palmer and still need an attack coach and some help from Cron, and have Hill supporting the programme; what is it that McKellar will be contributing let alone doing?o_O

Luckily the Brumbies are also flush with money to be able pay for all the extra coaching positions.

From a distance the Brumbies are very impressive with the way they go about their business, just seem to get shit done.
McKellar has the humility to say he needs solid assistants around him.
Lock in Lord Fisher and the impressive Cron backed with what is already there and 2018 would be off to a great start even before the 2017 season has finished.

Remember too the turmoil surrounding the Brumbies at the beginning of 2017, and factor in the return of Pocock with hopefully a fit and healthy Lealiifano, some new blood looking after the attack coaching, and 2018 is really starting to look the goods.

Also posted in the ARU thread..........

Bernie to stay around as a defacto assistant coach?

Larkham will become a full-time Wallabies assistant at the end of the Super Rugby season, but will be based in Canberra as part of an ARU initiative to offer better support to Australian franchises.

Other Wallabies assistants will be spread around the country, opening the door for Larkham to keep a desk at Brumbies headquarters.

Whats that saying about one rotten apple?

Fortunately I don't think it will effect the ARU barrel! :D
