Anyway, let's see who else they can re-sign or sign up for next year with a few names on the way out.

Top priority is a scrum half.

I am really interested to see the who and for what positions Bernie starts hunting for. With a few open spots it could give us some insight to where he thinks we need to strengthen / get depth.

The 9 spot is a real conundrum - do we chase experience (potentially past their best before) or, as we have seen with some of both the Kiwi and Saffa teams back the new talent? I still like Powell, and not sure if Dowsett needs fresh pastures as he has been around too long and may have a bit of ingrained Jakeball.

Props? Les Makin will be back but do we need more? Benny A is still a mystery atm. I am on the fence with the twins staying or going so that may be a few extra spots.

And a 3rd hooker? I can think of a young NRC hooker that could be worth investing in. Matter of fact I would get another one in one the fringe before the "experience" moves on.

A 15? Be good to have another specialist 15 - bonus if he has a big boot.

Do we need to target a player who is a natural out and out kicker? If so where do you play him and who sits down?

Where do you play Taliauli?

Dargaville - do you dare leave him out of the run on side? Where do you fit him in?

The 7 - fingers crossed its all about who is Poeys back up. Perry?

So what gaps does that leave us and do we have some depth?

So whos gunna run em round and top them up with the home made redbull? Suggestions for a S&C coach? (Plan "Ë" is BJ as he's got time and lives near by!;))

So, the last question - they have them in the AFL for the raving nutters (yes, you lot on here, me included), do we dare create a cheer / supporters club? I was reading that the Chiefs ushers at the games are volunteers. Its a cost saver for the club and cheap way to watch a game. Also a way supporters can give back, Arm yourself with some BBQ tongs at the pop up out front? Even some proper fund raising for the juniors or just ACT Rugby.
If we got a supporters club we could make them play cheer squad at the junior finals every year.
Thoughts?

Maybe Dargaville could be an option at 15. Not sure what his kicking is like but he certainly seems like one of those safe-as-houses no non-sense type of players. I really do like the look of him.

Given our poor scrum at the moment I'd be inclined for Larkham to start looking at some more props.

I'd be happy for Larkham to keep Dowsett but bring in some-one like Fourie De Prez (which was mentioned in the media this year) - Fourie might be past it but Dowsett could learn a shit load off him and it will set him up for future years.

I think the main problem areas look like being hooker, half back, 10/12/13 and fullback. The starting side is mostly covered except for No 9 and 15, but backup is light on in the other spots.

I posted before this season began that I thought we were short on 10/12 as each of To'omua and Lealiifano were the back up players to the other but also starting players. It only needed one to go down to injury, as happened with Matty, and we were in trouble. Same situation could happen again next year.

Desperately need a specialist No 15 imo. There are a couple of promising 15s in the Shute Shield who could be worth a look, and the old man Ben Batger is still playing some outstanding football for the Woodies.

Both Taliauli and Dargaville will have benefited from this year's experiences and will provide good wing coverage and maybe No 13 for next year. Nigel Ah Wong is also good cover at 13.

Even with the loss of Smiler, the back row looks strong but if either or both of Poey and Fotu leave we could be scratching there. Perry does look to be a long term option at 7 and Powell does at No 9 as well.

Would like to see Ruan Smith retained but JP is not so crucial. Alan Ala'alatoa is coming along very nicely and with Makin and Kite in the wings the prop spots should be covered so long as both Ben and Ruan stay on. Big trouble otherwise though.

Atm a lot depends on retaining Ben Alexander, Ruan Smith, Poey and Fotu Aeulua.

We're not that desperate, surely. Also the AIS is around the corner so maybe someone will come over from there.

Ruan is good, JP has some work to do.. They are still probably quite young so maybe they will come good.

Reasonable players to have in the squad for depth, but I would expect the Tahs could find players of similar calibre in the Shute Shield

JP's not so bad around the ground but has been shown up at scrum time many times. Ruan really looks like he could make a top class THP both in the set piece and in general play.

Which leads to the question do the Brumbies persist and can we carry them while they develop to a level where they don't get shown up?
Are there better options we could develop quicker or are already at a higher standard than the twins?

I wonder if they are a package or can be split?

Actually not a bad idea having someone from the AIS and also bring in less know or developing S&C coach to work in tandem. A high performance AIS coach with a S&C with rugby knowledge.
