Combined side probably
It'd be good for him to get some games under the belt before next season.Sam Carter is going to Bordeaux in France for a few games during RWC.
Hopefully he doesn't get injured.
Anyway, back to the Brumbies.
Cubelli is practically a done deal now
Cubelli is the perfect 9 signing, I think a great player who will grow in under Larkham plus add so much spice.
I like Jones he should be dirty.. But Carter been the hardest working lock in Oz..I realise this is a Brumbies thread, but seeing we're discussing Brumbies and non-Brumbies players in the RWC ghost squad I can't understand why Jones is so far down the pecking order of Oz locks. I'd have him in front of both Horwill and Carter, even possibly/probably in the original RWC 31 selection.
Carter also has more Test experience including a solid game against the All Blacks. Compared to Jones who had a poor EOYT.
Pretty close call given Jones' superb super xv season but in a RWC year you'd probably have to go with the experienced guy.
I'm not arguing against the proposition that experience prevails, but I really do think the bit about Jones' poor EOYT is mistaken to a degree and is being overdone to the extent it is fast becoming folk-lore. He was barely used on the EOYT, from memory only having two short incursions off the bench. In his first outing, he made two mistakes on his first two handling opportunities. I'd put this down very much to first game nerves. After that he was much more solid and made some fairly good ground winning runs. There is no concern, I believe, about his defensive work or his work rate.
I fear Jones will be maligned for some time yet until he does get another chance to show what he's got.
