I would laugh a little if it was Andrew Kellaway, mainly because of my Victorian DNA. Looks like he has been putting in some big performances and should get picked up. Just another example of how te NRC is wokring!

Not really up on what the Brumbies need in terms of positions filled - any guidance BJ?

Kellaway's with the Waratahs.

Most likely a forward and I wouldn't be surprised if it's Tim Cree.

Hmm, strange. I know he's trained wit them but didn't think he was under a contract (EPS or full). Happy to be proven wrong.

Tim Cree would make sense if you are looking to replace Ben on a long-term basis and cover for the unpredictability of Fotu's injury curse.

They announced Kellaway had signed right around the end of the season. I think it might have been before the semi final against the Brumbies.

Cool, thanks for clarifying. AS usual Doctor Google was being a bit stubborn with useful information this morning. Looks a good prospect for you.

Absolutely. The Waratahs have been waiting for him to grow up for a while.

It's definitely a big reason why money wasn't thrown at Alofa Alofa and Cam Crawford to keep them in Sydney.

What does that mean for the Smith brothers? Or are the Brumbies rolling with 6 props next year: Sio, Smith, Makin (LHPs); Alexander, Alaatoa, Smith (THPs).

Wasn't Link trying to train Sio as a THP? Wouldn't that influence how Berine will use him?

Don't think so, as evidenced by Lilo at 12 and To'omua at 10.

Besides, Sio has been very effective at LHP for the Brumbies. They would need to swap Alexander back to LHP, which I think would weaken their scrum overall as Alexander never could attack a THP the way Sio can. Plus, Ala'alatoa looks very handy as a THP prospect.

I don't particularly rate the Smith brothers as scrummagers, and both got taken to the cleaners this year a couple of times. I thought that Murphy was a much better scrummager (in fact I think he demolished a few scrums from LHP), but both Smith brothers are young in terms of props still, and are good around the field.

Though from memory in one of the NRC games the Vikings scrum struggled with I think Makin and Alaatoa as the props, then dominated once the Smith brothers came on.

That could be the Rams vs Vikings game. That definitely happened in that game but also could have plenty to do with Benn Robinson coming off for the Rams.

So it's Les Makin - a prop from Queanbeyan.

Good to see.

The rugby world is salivating about the future of a 135 kilogram teenage prop known as the "Tongan Thor", but the ACT Brumbies are banking on a Queanbeyan removalist to be their star of the future.

.........

Makin spends his days moving office furniture, and occasionally grand pianos, to supplement his rugby ambitions

Dan Palmer worked as a furniture mover before signing to the Brumbies didn't he?

Some future props waiting to be unearthed among the furniture movers I would imagine ;)

Would be an incredible rise for Tim if so. Not sure he played firsts at school, toiled away in lower grades at Easts. Got a crack at prems, and played really well - although he left to go to Souths as he wasn't treated terribly well. Ends up down in Canberra, and is apparently playing the house down. Definition of a workman like player, would be a great story!

The late Peter Fatialofa from Manu Samoa was a Furniture Removalist that specialised in Piano Moving. A real character in the game.

Fantastic news about Les. Hopefully Tim Cree is the next to graduate from the NRC. Would be good to see local lad Sam Windsor get a proper go with Brumbies too considering his form so far, or even Iona depending on his form on return from injury.
