Luke Homes from Sydney, What does that say about Laurie's opinion of players in the Local comp???

If you google his profile he's a experienced journeyman who's played for a number of teams. Seems like they made the right call in buying experience, esp at soup level. Can offer no opinion on his ability or form, perhaps one of our tahs fans can?

Half of it probably revolves around who is available.

Luke Holmes is clearly looking to continue his professional rugby career with short term contracts and whatever else he can get based on events of the last couple of years. Another candidate from the John I Dent Cup or Shute Shield would presumably have a day job and might not be willing to give that up for a short term contract that might not go anywhere.

Ita Vaea has been given the all clear by medical staff to resume training.

All aboard the Ita Vaea bandwagon, before it's too late! !! :D

Too late I'm afraid. Force and Reds fans already raising the prospect of getting him for 2015.

But great news for Ita. Should stay at the Brumbies as replacement No 8 for Mowen with Fotu, Smiler and Butler providing backrow cover, assuming of course that Poey makes it back next year.

He was absolutely devastating at 8 for us in 2012, and a big part of the whole.

His game against the Sharks in particular was astonishing, came on at about 55mins and just went ballistic. It was like watching that monster Tongan backrower smear the rest of the U12's all over the park on a Saturday morning all over again.

He needs polishing, but his ball running, and accuracy/decision making while offloading shits all over anything ive seen from Palu. Linking game and other stuff was in need of tuning up, but it's like polishing a huge diamond.

If he gets his fitness, and instinct back to 2012 level, Link will have in him in gold faster than you can blink.

@ 10 seconds in: He made about 15 runs like that, in the space of about 20 minutes, and every single one of them was as destructive as that. It genuinely took 3-4 players every time to bring him down.

@ 4:45, 5:03: check out the power of the hit up, the instinct to know exactly when to turn and look for the offload, and then the decision making to get the first one right and create the try, and the second one to pick out whilst spinning and falling backwards, the correct option AND throw a pass he could run onto rather than stop to catch.

Yep, he's back at training apparently, and they're working with him on fitness etc etc, so i'd imagine if he shows even a glimpse of his previous form he'll be immediately re-signed on some kind of contract.

If he isn't, i'm going to go down there....

Why weren't Butler and Speight taken to the 10s? Rested?

Jarrod Butler and Christian Lealifano are playing for Tuggeranong tomorrow and Henry Speight is playing for Gunghalin

Apparently Josh Mann-Rea injured his hamstring in club rugby for the Eagles today after about 20 minutes.

Not sure of the severity yet but hardly the news the Brumbies need right now.

Interesting ring in at the Singapore 10 for the Brumbies Mitchell Wade UQ. Murphy failed at the throwing at the line outs in the final against the Blues.

I have to say that I'm well pissed off at losing key players for the pointy end of the Soup15, just for the sake of some meaningless internationals against a disinterested French team.

For the clubs and fans the Soup15 is the important competition - disrupting it with internationals like these just devalues it.

There are test breaks in every major provincial competition. It's part of having an international rugby calendar.

It sucks to lose players to injury but everyone is in the same boat.

Have yet to see a reasonable argument favoring the test window in June over one in July. IMO July would work better for all SH and NH teams. Allow Super comp to be completed and provide touring teams anopportunity to play some lead-ins before the tests.
