I think that in his short time at the helm Jake White has already shown a better recruitment policy than we have seen for a while. He actually seems to be considering the balance of the squad, and the areas of need.

Very true. Considering we had 3 10/12's and 3 7's that limited other areas and in the past because they played certain number of games, they automatically get upgraded to full time contracts which then takes away the focus on building depth in other areas due to financial issues.

Absolutely agree, what a good start…. nice clean out work by Jake... You can already fell a fresh breeze flowing through the province. And I like he has employed and respects past achievers be it Larkham and Gregan or the return of forwards coach Laurie Fisher from his success at Munster.

Munster fans did not value Fisher so highly. But that is neither here not there - Jake has got off to a good start.

I think Laurie Fisher is underrated as a coach. It's good to see the Viking back at the Brums.

Yeah I'm glad he's back - he's done a lot for ACT rugby over the years. I saw him strolling through Manuka yesterday in his Brumbies tracksuit looking pretty boss.

This was my one concern, but the Brumbies last won the competition with him as forwards' coach and despite a lack of success with the Brumbies as head coach he was still held highly enough for Munster to take him on.

To be fair, the Brumbies probably would've made the finals 3 times under him if they hadn't of had such horror injury runs with key players.

They were a different team when Bernie didn't take the field.

Ever the fashionista, our man Laurie. Hopefully he hasn't abandoned his Phyllis Diller 'fro.

Peter Kimlin just let it slip on twitter that the Brumbies have signed current Easts Brisbane (former Exeter) prop Ruaidhri Murphy

Has been in good form for the Tigers this year, great to see him get a contract. His work rate for a big fella is very good

I don't know anything about this guy, so wikipedia:

Ruaidhri Murphy is a professional Rugby Union player for Exeter Chiefs in the Aviva Premiership. Ruaidhri's position of choice is prop. Ruaidhri is a former pupil of Castleknock College in Dublin and represented Leinster Schools and Ireland Schools during his school days at Castleknock. He was a member of the Ireland team at the Under 19 World Cup in Dubai before moving to Leinster Rugby and was part of the Under 20 Six Nations Grand Slam winning side of 2007. He is also eligible to play for Australia.

Interesting.

I'm assuming (hoping) he plays loosehead?

Yeah he is a loosehead.

I actually did not know he has a background in English rugby. Learn something every day don't ya

Excellent.

There's another concern of mine relieved.

I would assume with his resume and experience he would slot straight into the starting XV with Alexander/Palmer covering tighthead.

I think you will find that he has been at a few places but not played in many games. It would beg the question why is he here playing club rugby if he was going well over there? Which means two things - he was injured a lot or was not good enough - young enough to improve tho

I saw Exeter a few times and if he's the player I'm thinking of he's not going to set the world on fire - not that he got a lot of game time in the matches I watched. Big bugger.

As a matter of interest - why is he eligible for Oz?

Jake's cottoned on to the old Aussie trick very quickly: found young Rory an Australian grandmother somewhere.

I can't find any reports to bak it up but someone over at PR stated that the Brumbies have lost CA as their major sponsor...

It would be a shame because it's one of the least overbearing logos to have on the front of a jersey... Or at the start of the team name...

I'm not sure if DHL Brumbies has the same ring to it?
