There is absolutely no way that Super Rugby will be on FTA in Australia.
For the reasons, look at earlier posts. But, just to remind you, why would FTA pay for a schedule of games over which they have no control, the structure of which varies significantly from season to season? Even the finals can be anywhere, in any of the three time zones.
Australian sports fans are spoiled, the two major winter codes have full control over their schedules, and contracts with FTA can promise whatever the networks want. For example, NRL games on Nein are scheduled six weeks in advance in consultation between the NRL and the network. We cannot ever compete with that.
The only games that might conceivably be able to get into a FTA schedule would be Australian derbies. Even then, they would probably be delayed to allow the insertion of enough commercials to make it attractive enough to the networks. Plus, any contract would have to be on a year by year basis. Impossible, in other words, in these days of huge media competition.
Why would Foxtel pay big bucks for the "privilege" of showing the rest of the games? Answer, they wouldn't.
