That Stars front row (as Sydney Uni) got towelled up by the Southern front row a few weeks back.
You'll find many changes in the tight five from that day to the side taking the field on Thursday night.
Against Souths that weekend;
-Gerard Ellis (London Irish loaned him to Uni to gain experience in the front row after winning Young player of the year award in 2013-2014 season as an open side flanker)
- Tom Boidon (A makeshift second rower who is normally a blindside flanker now off to France)
- Jordan Chapman (Played lower grades through the year and was given an opportunity through hard work) although all great players, they are not experienced in the tight five and University as a result suffered in their set piece that day.
This Thursday you'll see towering lock Ryan Wilson who is close to 120kgs at 6ft5 and Southern Districts lock Andrew Leota pack down together. Add in former Uni colt now a USA Eagle Tom Coolican and the tight 5 will have more experience and size than the one that took the pitch at University Oval few weeks ago.
I'd be surprised if they counted NRC crowd attendance in the 2014 membership numbers, the reds season is finished and those numbers would be much more useful in the 2015 countIn regards to memberships I'm pretty sure anyone who goes to a game will be counted as a Reds member for 2014. If you flicked over the channel and caught a few seconds of play they used you in their membership count. I can't see that stopping with the NRC.
Agreed, they can start the season on 10,000 and reach their goal of 200K for the year.I'd be surprised if they counted NRC crowd attendance in the 2014 membership numbers, the reds season is finished and those numbers would be much more useful in the 2015 count
Yeah the late injury to tapuai probably changed the plans a bit, forcing them to reshuffle the centres. I'd expect them to try out multiple combinations as the season progresses.I think it's a case of getting the ball in his hands as much as possible. I like Toby White at 13. He has been going great for Easts over the last few years with no interest from above. Glad he gets a chance. I think Kerevi will get plenty of game time at 13 as the season progresses.
love to see tommy carter and Kerevi go head to head
Probably not a bad option to put Kerevi in a position where he needs to be a bit of a ball player at a level below Super Rugby.
Might give him a more complete skill set at 13 for the Reds next year.
Not to pigeon hole a player too much but some simply aren't built to be ball players. Obviously a varied skill set can be helpful but in a sense it can also give players too many options when they should be focusing on playing their role - in Kerevi's case he's a strong ball carrier and strike weapon out wide.
I'm all for player development but I don't see the point in changing someones playing style.
I doubt it's about any sort of drastic change to his style, just giving him a more complete skill set. How many times have you seen AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) and other outside centres criticised for not passing the ball?Not to pigeon hole a player too much but some simply aren't built to be ball players.
