I disagree the perfect tag is an act of great skill.
Sure anybody can stamp on someone, but to ruck an errant fly-half so that it leaves perfectly symmetical welts down his back is an act of beauty, almost a work of art.

Am sure there would be a Facebook page dedicated to showing such tags! (if rucking ever becomes legal again!)

As a loosie myself I understand the purpose of it. I never really got the 'macho' crap around it (for lack of a better word)...it's just stamping on someone. No skill or ability needed.

Or ticker. The guys I played with against who were the most aggressive at rucking couldn't hurt someone any other way.

Come to think of it...rucking someone would hurt more nowadays what with the latest space age skin tight materials used today compared to rather loose fitting relatively thick, initially woollen, then cotton materials up to early 2000s?

Rucking (or more correctly stamping) is coming back to a degree in some ITM Cup games.

The ITM Refs seem to be letting some of the stuff we see on the Tele go without sanction.

HJ, rucking always been allowed in ITM cup, and in fact in most club rugby in NZ, people get all mixed up with difference between rucking and stomping!!!
