G'day lads. New to the forum, just after some advice on some boots, preferably screw-in suitable for a prop.

Now last year I tried a new boot, the Asics Club 3 ro something or other that were of a blade design. Worst. Decision. EVER. It was my first time ever straying from the studded design and I did not care for it. This year I have been on the hunt since January for some new boots that will serve me well.

Now I have an exceptionally wide foot, and the only boots, sold in Australia, that fit are either Asics, Xblades, Canterbury or Gilbert if you can find them.

I went online the other night and had a brainwave and checked out some UK stores, now they have a MUCH BIGGER selection of brands and styles than we ever get here, AND much better prices. What I am wondering is if anyone has any experience with either Mizuno, Under Armour or Optimum Rugby boots?

These are a few that I was looking at getting

So if anyone has any experience with these or just has an opinion or has thought of anything that I havent all advice will be muchly appreciated.

Cheers
Brendo

I always preferred these types with 6 studs on the front

I've had the highcuts before and haven't felt very comfortable in them at all. But my preference is to the 8 stud as well. But have had experience with 6 and have felt they are pretty good and much lighter as well. I'm more looking toward the UK as they have a bigger selection of boots than the pissweak offerings we get over here =/ Adidas, Nike and Puma. Basically all we have to choose from. The occassional Asics or Canterbury. But not often. And our prices are exhorbitant to say the least.

if you are an unusual size you will possibly be in luck at a Canturbury outlet shop if you want to save some dollars

Canterbury I've used before, unfortunately I didn't have much to say about their quality. Don't get me wrong, they're great boots, but never the less they didn't last me a season. But if their quality has picked up I may have another look at them.

I used mid cut asics in school, the only problem is the cut into the back of your foot if you bend it the right way. really good long studs too.

second thoughts, they were mizuno

I also have size 8 shoes but with size 4e width or sumthing. extra wide at RM Williams.

Im a size 10/10half depending on who makes them. No clue on the width sizing, but all I know is I cant squeeze my fat paddle of a foot into nike or adidas or puma boots. Cant get them into half the bloody runners these days either...

Rampage Pro 8 stud. Buy two pair and alternate them between training and playing. Alternatively buy a pair of the standard Rampage 8 studs for training and keep the Pro pair for games

I know a few of the tahs front rowers including "Shaft" and le Fuse wear a Le Coq Sportif boot and are pretty happy with them. Those French usually know a thing or two about scrums.

Bit flashy on the colour, mind.

Still, you've got these, too:

Or, better yet:

The last pair I bought were Rugbytech, and, with a UK size 12 foot that's VERY wide, they were super comfortable, and super stable. Cheap, too. I'd thoroughly recommend them, as I would Kooga, and Mizuno. Mizuno are a lovely boot, but have a bit of a tendency not to last in the wet. In Aus, they should be fine.

Le coq sportif hands down. I've been messing around with other boots for years but a couple of years back I found these. They're more expensive than any canterburry of under armour but in all things, and rugby boots are no exception, you get what you pay for.

They boast an endless list of ambassadors including ;

Depends on what you find comfortable. Tried the ones that wrap the ankle and didn't like them so kept to the low cut version usually Mizuno. That was usually due to the fact they stocked size 13's in most store. Just bought extra long studs to suit.
