I just hope Harris is ready for Ma'a; that Digby plays 13 to keep Rene under control; and that Davies realises it's ok to at least try and catch a pass even if it isn't delivered perfectly into his bread basket.........

Rene plays on the wing.....so I hope Digby does play at 13 where he can run into Stanley. A good ball runner v a good hitter.....mmmmmm

Whaaaaat?!?! Are you serious? I didn't get to see hardly any of the game as I had something on.....I don't mind Ranger on the wing too much but Stanley at wing?!?
Don't worry I was suprised as you are. I don't think Rene posses the linking skills and defensive reads necessary for outside center.

The Blues front row gave the Rebels a terrible time in the scrum. I had to avert my eyes it was so bad. So this week we will see if Daley has improved his scrummaging over the season. My expectations are not high.

Are you picturing yourself unwrapping him from brightly covered paper then getting the guilts because part of you sees the possible moral dilemma that Ant being given to you as a present could be construed as you getting slave?

I'm not, no no, really I'm not.

Have to agree though, we have really missed both of them this year. Beau has missed them most of all I reckon.

I was actually pisturing him sitting under the christmas tree with a big bow tied around his neck. ;)

I think he played there most of 2010 and did pretty well. I like him having the ball as often as possible but yeah....I'd hate to be a winger outside of him...LOL

Just made me realise how much we miss Jared Payne.....

Does anyone have a stat on Digby's try scoring rate from 13? From the top of my head it is pretty high. I'd love to see him play there and I think he would take a lot of pressure off other players.

What do we think of our position in the comp if: Brums bt Lions next game, putting them on 30 pts (maybe more with 4 tries) and we lose v Blues and stay on 21 points (again, subject to Bps that we have really struggled to get unlike other Aus teams)?

This scenario would mean we'd have to win - net - more than 2 more games overall than the Brums for the rest of the season to head the Aus comp at the end pre finals. (And the Tahs are now ahead of us by essentially 1 win.) Arguably, we have the harder teams to play out against from here compared to the Brums. (And then a lot of course depends upon how the Tahs do from here on, but it's the current points gaps we have to focus on as of today.)

It gets easier if we win in Auckland, but this is shaping up for us as a genuinely, really truly, positively, absolutely, no bullshit must win game as it's likely the Brums will beat the hapless Lions, and it could be a 5 point table win too.

There is no shaping up about it. This IS a must win game for us. Every game from now on is must win.

On another note, the way the Blues scrum is dealing with other scrums at the moment, if there was a week in which you would start Holmes, this week would be it.

Any word on Toua? If he is fit I would play him at either outside or fullback, with Diggers either on the wing or outside, depending on whether you want to drop Davies or Morahan.

Payne was gold, really liked the way he played.

Have a feeling the Blues will get the win here.

Davies everytime. The shame of it is, that we are so damn short of players that we actually really need Davies to stay fit.

I haven't given it much thought, given how disjointed how backline has been of late. But god it is remarkable how well Shipperley is playing. He is so far ahead of both Davies and Morahan that it will probably mean that one of them has to back their bags at season's end. If I remember correctly he had a massive off-season where he topped both the sprinting and the endurance? Fantastic player.
For all those that don't know, he is also an OP1 student who is studying medicine.

I liked you comment, but it wasn't enough.

There is a lot to like about Shipperley, more and more so every week. Compared to the other 2 in the back three he is basically mistake free, is now faster off the mark and is as strong in contact as Morahan.

He has the makings of being every bit as good as Ben Tune.

Agree all re Shipps, have rated him for some time.

Just to add: he's also got exceptional lower body strength giving him great leg drive in his successful line breaks (which he makes often in contact). Then, on top, he combines all this with excellence in judging body height into the tackle in attack, gets low when needed and slides through and under. Uses similar skill when under defensive pressure on the try line, knows when to go in very low at an angle making it hard for the tackler to contain him.

He could easily play 13 if needed.

Just like Diggers, he's made to play with QC (Quade Cooper)'s strengths, he knows just how to position and mobilize for the long pass, then best exploit the space. We'll see the full-blown Shipperley when we can restore a traditionally staffed Reds back line.

Not playing at least this week.

Rumour being he will come back via club, so watch the tigers.

I would actually rather seen Shipperely at 13. Just because Digby has that ball hog mentality, and i dont think he has the ability to make the correct defensive reads.
