Coleman is a force for the future.
The best locks always have a bit of fire in their belly.
Getting the ball to him in the lineout requires moore thought.

Just get him out of the Bakkies Botha School of Hardness where Cheika seems to have enrolled him and he'll be right.

Add to that his dummy spitting every time they show the coaches' box and it is not a good look.

Because cutting to the All Blacks box when they score a try to an emotionless Hansen who picks up a pen and jots down a "ii" next to Dagg's number is better?

Passion goes a long way, similar to not wanting to take home a star fish from the pub, you surely want your coach to show some kind of enthusiasm and investment?

Not a good look, no. But it isn't abusing a match official.

Must be easy to be Hansen or any of the AB coaches when you're winning everything. I'd prefer Cheika or this bloke:

Loved seeing Meyer in the coaches box! So much passion.

SANZAR have said they won't be reconsidering the Franks incident. That's not surprising, what is though is that they have also said that they won't be citing Phipps over the boot throwing incident.

OK, I've read through this thread endlessly now, attempting to stay out of it. But like a fly to shit, a fat kid to cake or a penis to a hoover, here I go.
  • I don't think Franks necessarily "gouged" but he did put his hands all over the face and peepers (yes, I think there's a difference). I would say a lot rests on the reaction of Douglas in the moment, the evidence (scratch, injury etc..), and then a statement after the match. Given we haven't seen or heard boo says something. However, for the match review not to want to investigate further is dodgy, without explaining why. I would be content to see Franks miss a SMALL amount of games even without a "gouge" just for being in that area. You can reasonably argue it was worse.
  • Phipps throwing the boot away was just petty, nothing else. In days gone past, the boot might have sailed 10 metres past the player on it's way back, but not the fucking stands. It's just more evidence that this "rivalry" has turned a little sour. "Much ado"
  • Poite was hopeless though the players subsequently made it worse for him. He couldn't control the scrum, there was no reasonable contest there all night. The game turned into a farce in the last 20 mins, something the AB's have admitted they will take advantage of, because they have enough nous to play to the ref. He undoubtedly treated Stephen Moore and other Wallabies unfairly and with contempt. Don't get me wrong, this is still Cheika and Moore's fault, but he took it way too far.
  • Just repeating others here but Cheika needs to smarten up. You can't be seen to react with "F**k Off, F**king S*** C**t" on TV. Does anyone believe that other referees don't watch these games, that Poite won't find out about it? Hansen, bit of a prick, pokes the bear and gets everything he wants.
  • I'm pulling a classic schoolyard quote here, "they started it". The Wallabies clearly came to the game with conspiracy to commit niggle. The AB's subsequently returned fire. End result; scrappy game, blighted with stoppages.
  • There should have been more yellow cards to the AB's, particularly for Squire and A.Savea. You shouldn't get away with haircuts like those.
  • All the other shit, bugging, meetings, sportscraft sweaters is irrelevant to rugby, which we should all try to remember is (or used to be) fun.
Finally, don't fret Wallaby fans. Your next game is against SA who have far deeper problems and the Argentina games should be extremely fun. Also stick with Cooper but don't let him tackle anyone.

I would have been content if the ref blew a simple penalty for attacking the face. No eye gouge citing.

I expected a yellow card though. No player should attack the face like that.

Red card and citing could certainly could have happened too, as I believe low grade eye gouge still holds 12 weeks. Which I think means any sort of contact to the eye accidental or not. So attacking the face and "accidentally" hitting the eye is 12 weeks.

Either way, Franks is a grub, and players need to stop attacking the face in mauls.

What franks did was wrong - should get time.

I can't believe I come on here to read up areas we can improve, aspects we can do differently, and it is predomitaley chat about Franks dog act that can not be changed - it just needs to be dealt with, it wont change the result of the game.

Agree with all of that.
Except that Cheika has every right to mouth off in the privacy of his own box. Are coaches expected to be emotionless machines??
The bigger question is why do the bloody cameras feel the need to go to the box after every contentious decision hoping to catch an obscenity. Whats the point??
All the coaches do it. It's just that the ones who are losing have the opportunity to do it more often.
The media need to give themselves an uppercut and focus on the game.
