It is indeed somewhat strange that journos don't ask about the things everybody gets talking about.
Kind of. They are looking for a headline - 'why did you retain Blake Schoup instead of Matt Gibbon on the bench' doesn't really cut it. I dont think we see all the questions that are asked either, only the ones that the MSM want us to see.

We still only scored 1 try with him.

(I actually think he did quite well in attack, we had more than enough breaks for 3-4 tries but we couldn’t finish them off, compare this to NZ who always do and our maul was poor)

But the amount of times I’ve seen the Wallabies heads go down from easy early penalties missed is too many. It was the same story in Pretoria
And that tells you all you need to know about the attitude of the team.

It’s interesting
There is certainly some trainers in the squad atm
Schoupp, faesler, Gleeson, Lonergan, Donaldson, Foketi and pietsch
Are these guys still good chances to make RWC 2023?
still think there is a chance Samu, hodge and Wright are a chance to come back
I’d have hodge over Donaldson and Wright over both Suli and pietsch
Why aren’t these guys going back to club rugby for some game time?

Is someone going to come out of the blue, or at least from Aus a squad like Neville, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), Wilson, and nag a spot?
it’s hard to tell from 25 to 33

Who fucking knows, he's doing weird squad shit. What was the point of including Donaldson over Hodge too? What's the point of Gleeson being in the squad and not getting a run?

Why did Lambert and even Schoupp suddenly overtake Gibbon?

Why is Pietsch in the squad over Wright as well? Why haven't we see Lonergan or Faesslar. Maybe the journos should actually ask these questions instead of the dumbass ones they usually do.
Exactly, I thought when Eddie names the TRC squad in late June this was one of the worst ever Wallabies squads selected

- L.Lonergan and Folau Fainga'a should be both over Uelese
- Donaldson should have never been in the squad - he was one of the worst 10's in Super Rugby this year and be a woeful test 15
- Vunivalau is just not test quality, enough said
- Peitsch and Kemeny - solid players in Super Rugby but just not up to test rugby and don't know why Peitsch is a 'utility', can he cover many other positions in the backline other than left wing
- Leota was way to underdone having not played for at least 10 months to be in the squad

Most of the guys who aren’t in the squad did go back to club rugby, but hard for the ones outside the 23 to go to play club rugby in QLD and NSW when they’re in Melbourne and Dunedin

he played 5/8, centres, flanker & #8 at school, and some halfback in 7s. I'm not sure if he played any of those positions at club level but I'm guessing eddie sees him as someone who provides a lot of injury cover for the Portugal game when he will want to rest the top line players ahead of the QF

Yeah he might have played them in school but he hasn't in Super Rugby and that docent mean he'd be able to step up and perform in those positions internationally

If Eddie has mentioned him as a utility player why are you assuming he hasn't been training in both the backrow and the backline? + He is definitely capable of playing against lower-tier nations.

Yeah but it's the fact that he hasn't played outside wing a lot professionally

He might not even get picked in the RWC squad but people are saying they can see the logic in having him there. All things being equal yeah you'd play him on the wing. But say Rob Leota comes off the bench v Wales and cops a stinger that is going to keep him out of the Portugal game which he is penned in to play. We still have to name a bench, and with 15 to go and we are 50 up rather than risk Rob Valetini we can send Pietsch out there in the back row. It's for situations like that.

yeah but Lonergan's played eight tests
So? Faessler was the form hooker in Super Rugby and Eddie obviously sees something in him, otherwise why have him in camp for so long? However, I am bewildered why he hasn't been given a run, even off the bench. Just as I am bewildered by the others in the squad who haven't had game time, particularly the other Lonergan.

So not a full strenght ABs starting XV. Still a better forwards pack. New combinations in their backline. Let's see is a full strenght WBs side can handle it

Who knows, Eddie seems to be flying by the seat of his pants with selection atm. Hence our 4th different captain in 4 games

Bet365 is paying $11.00 if Aussies win or a tie.
Worth a dabble for me. Especially when I discovered I had $25 lying in the account for the last two years I'd forgotten about.

This game may well be Ulese's last chance to perform. If he doesn't, then Faessler & Lonergan might both be on the plane to RWC.
(why can't players have simpe names like Smith, Jones, Ash, etc?)
