Cliffy's selection in the Wallabies squad was flawed because he always takes a long time to come back from injuries.

The only thing in his favour (in a weird way) is that the injury was a cracked shoulder blade (IIRR); so he should have a lot of kilometres on the board. Provided he can contact opponents with his normal brutishness when he gets onto the park his turnaround circle could be smaller than usual.

Otherwise, with the success of Samo at 8, not only running with the pill, but also picking it up from the base of the scrum (and sometimes in adversity), plus McCalman playing well off the bench, we could have got away with not picking him.

Maybe.

Let's hope that yours truly has cyber egg running down his face - and the sooner the better.

In the past Cliffy has been a slow starter after injury but I thought that this year he got back up to speed pretty quickly playing for the Tahs. He was awesome in his play against the Clan in what was his third/fourth? outing from injury.

He was pretty good from the start and they just built his game time.

Hopefully they have thrashed him and his legs and lungs are fine
