I saw Sydney play the Taffs at the Sports Ground in 1979 (I think it was '79) and Laurie Monaghan booted the winning droppie from 50m, but watched the Aus v Taffs Test at the SCG. Was rugby so low key in 1963 they couldn't even get the SCG?

yeah it was the Sports Ground. Wallabies won 18-9. Dick Marks in the centres. Phil Hawthorn at 10. John Thornett skipper and Peter Johnson at hooker. Greg Davis's Wallaby debut too.

Yeah it was at the Sports Ground. I was there too.

My favourite Pom test was at the SFS in 1991. IIRR England had won 5N - with a Grand Slam, I think, and there they were with their white legs flashing (excepting Guscott and maybe another bloke I've forgotten) - and we thrashed them.

I think it was then than skipper Carling realised that, if they met Oz in the RWC play-offs, their method of playing would not beat us. Thus they threw the ball around a lot in the RWC final, and though losing, did a lot better.

I said this on another thread but I just have to say it again:

Morty, you've been a f*ckin champion player over the past 8 years and outstanding captain. Thank you for all that you've done for Australian rugby over that time.

My memory is of you kicking Bledisloe and Tri-Nations Cup winning goals, RWC tries and absolutely smashing some damned good rugby players in your time.

You have been a champion for all of us. In my view, you've been the outstanding centre of the decade. You took over the captaincy from a legend and continued in a similar manner.

You were on top of your profession and a world class player. I salute you.

Dear all,

Get fucked!

I've been to every match in pomlandia including the final in 1991 and nothing tops last year.

Seriously.

Destroying their scrum in front of them was one, if not THE most satisfying sporting moment of my entire life.

Yes it was Gags. We had a few scrums before that one where I thought...hang on we are getting on top here (One was on our try line that went through 90 but we weren't awarded the feed). The "colossal" scrum proved beyond doubt that we were on top.

I suspect one of the Welsh channels will cover the Cardiff match (S4C?).
