for us QLD news, that just isnt great news, that is brilliant news...

losing Horwill and Barnes, our two best players for the start of the S14 season would have being nails in the coffin

now lets just hope that MMM and Cooper come through the tour unscathed...touch wood

It's not only great news for Reds fans but also it's great news for Oz fans generally.

Berrick as a 12 has opened a door for Oz rugby that we haven't had since Noddy played outside Ella, give or take the odd blow-in or two. And apart from his play he exudes a spirit that Queensland and Oz rugby can ill-afford to lose.

Lee and TOCC,

Appreciate the sentiment, but seriously we (Qld) will be in big trouble if our season is shot without these two. Granted, they are important, but I prefer to remain glass half full and say that 3M and Simmons/Van etc.. will fill the forwards gap and Fainga'a/ Fetoia will substitute for Barnes until he is ready. Cooper will step up and provide the midfield leadership and Morgs will steer the backline ship admirably until someone else steps up.

It's all good.

i dont question the talent or ability of those players like Simmons, Fangaa and Fetoia...

but they are not experienced or mature enough to lead and hold a team together in the style that Barnes and Horwill do, Barnes is the glue in the backline for the Reds and Horwill is the leader of the forwards. They are practically Captain and Vice-Captain, there arent to many teams in the S14 that can still go well when they lost there two leaders.

Imagine the Crusaders without McCaw and Carter, Brumbies without Mortlock and Smith, Force without Sharpe and Giteau.

Im just being realistic in saying that QLD does not yet have the depth to cover the loss of these players.
