When does the Japan top tier start, they just played the final and I believe Santory won.

The Japanese season only goes for about 12 weeks, not taking into account trial games, etc. That's why it's so attractive for Super Rugby players from these parts, apart from the standard of play.

That's what I thought but when does it start

This year's Top league started on 31st August and the final is slated for 24 February.

Did anyone notice that the kick by Lynagh in the lead up to Horans try in the '91 RWC match V's the AB's was very similar to the types of kicks Barnes has been trying to use for the Wallabies recently.
Seems like tactics from 1991 are not as successful as in 2012.
Care to comment Bob ?
Maybe it was the leather balls.
But tactics such as running straight, accurate passing, fielding a strong front row and an aggressive back row, and strong support play will take you a long way to winning anything.

It's not whether you kick or not, it's when you kick and why you kick which makes the difference. The right kick at the right time will generally work regardless of the era.

Barnes is one of many Wallabies and Waratahs who have engaged in aimless kicking during the Hickey/Foley/Deans era. For coaches to say "it's not in the game plan", then pick the player again only to watch him do the same thing borders on the absurd.

What it illustrates is that the coaching hasn't been up to the job.

I've always thought that Barnes was a skillful player and seems a genuinely nice bloke. He strikes me as a loyal person who is true to his word. Based on that he'll go about any negotiations and requests in the right way. He's a professional sportsman, so subject to contracts etc, he's free to go where he likes and good luck to him and his family.

Barnes' problems relate to Footballers' Migraine, not concussion. He seems to have overcome the problem and there are, according to doctors, no long term effects on the brain.

Do they have any Japanese players in the Japanese Top League?

I disagree with the term aimless, it is more about execution, communication and team support.

An interesting development that could affect this move is that Leinster have been given the go ahead to sign a top class 10/12 from the IRFU, some people in the know on the Leinster forum are touting Barnes as a target. They are hoping the lure of playing for one of the top teams in Europe could sway him over the $$$ option from Japan. I would think it’s a very dark horse but one watching none the less.
