Should the Wallabies have declined the Barbarians' invitation? That'd be a poor precedent, I'd have thought.

Barbarians have an open invite to all the major nations all year round, the location and time is arranged through negotiations.. dates are TBC

Can only assume the ref is a sports master from a nearby school. Perhaps his name is either Pulver, or Clyne, however, what is clear, is that he is well out of his depth here.

When the final instruction to the scrum is "sit" then you can be sure he's a Kiwi.

And this game was accepted some time ago to be played in London, somewhat of a tradition on Northern Tours historically. Then got moved. I don't think declining invites from the BaaBaas is the way we should be going.

Dempsey couldn’t drag his own leg forward, looks to be a torn hip flexor, horrible injury

Well not sure what to make of that game, Baabaas played good style of game, didn't really agree with all ref calls, but the yellow cards, especially Quade's he didn't really have a choice. I would of liked him to be a bit lenient, but I suppose if a game is played under international rules well..... oh and Izzy if you hadn't of been wearing a Yellow shirt everyone here would of noticed the act on the ground.
But don't get downhearted, Wallabies were poor in a large part of the game, but it was a very 2nd string team, and looked like there not to many combos there.

That’s your opinion, my opinion is that playing a b-team against the Baa Baas in front of an empty stadium devalues both the Wallaby and Barbarians brand, and devalues the NRC competition by removing 30 of the best players in the final round before finals. The only conceivable justification for playing the game under these circumstances was for money, which I question eventuated given the small crowd and the impact of losing Dempsey and Tui.

Of course it's my opinion. We had accepted the invitation. Should we then turn around and tell them to get stuffed as it had to be moved?

Some stand out performances in the game.

Luke Jones put in a MOTM performance. All the Baa Baas' locks outperformed the Wallabies' locks.

The Baa Baas' back row out played the Wallabies, with Palu and Naisarani easily the best. As someone who has bagged Cliff Palu in the last couple of years of his time in the Wallabies, I wish he had shown half of today's efforts for the Wallabies in that time.

Also, as someone who has never rated Ben McCalman, he put in a very strong shift after he came on. Is he now injury-free perhaps?

Pulu was many steps ahead of Phipps at No 9. Phipps actually had little or no impact on the general play of the Wallabies. He simply shoveled the ball on from the breakdown and scrum. Joe Powell was actually quicker to the breakdown than Phipps had been. Shame on Cheika/Larkham for continually failing to give Powell more opportunity at Wallaby level.

Naiyaravoro's best game ever imo playing at 13. He and Banks formed a formidable partnership out wide.

Hunt was busy but lacked impact. Meakes was poor. No 12 will not be taken off Beale by either of these players.

Quade underplayed his hand but still showed his creativeness at times. His cross field kick to put Banks and Naiyaravoro away was equally as good as any Barrett has pulled off, while it just couldn't be performed by of our pretender No 10s, including Foley.

Not much good can be said about the Wallabies. Kerevi again showed that he cannot defend adequately at 13.

Why was it moved?
Presumably accepted the invitation to play in London, not in Sydney on the last round of the NRC with two Aussie b-teams in front of an empty stadium..

Originally scheduled for London at the end of the EOYT. The Baa Baas club apparently later issued an invitation to play NZ and the games would have clashed. Clearly their preference was to play NZ at Twickenham, so they negotiated with the ARU to reschedule this game to this weekend. Anyway, that's my understanding.

So Barbarians prioritised NZ over Aus and double booked on the same weekend... shit, doesn’t sound like it would have been an issue to just postpone it to next year..

You'd think he'd be exposed at 13 but he seemed to play much better there. He ran a beautiful overs line to get on the outside of Kerevi and put Banks away for his first try. Maybe it's because he gets a running start at 13, on the wing he often receives the ball static and takes ages to get a head of steam up.

Who takes the risk on the crowd? Presumably the Barbars?

Now I understand why you lot complain about refs. Its was the saddest display I ever saw. If you want refs to help you team like this, forget about it. Not even SA schoolboy refs will favour one team like this one.

He was brilliant!
I think against a better term he would have been exposed defensively, Wallabies failed to target him and didn’t really play with much structure or composure.

Presumably, as the ARU/RA disowned the fixture yesterday.

I guess that would mean that Pulver, Clyne et al would not have gone and would instead have gone to a NRC game?;)

He was appalling - more blatantly one-sided than Owen reffing the All Blacks.

That said, I think he was a Kiwi.

He's a Kiwi. Clearly he'd naturally be biased towards the Wallabies. In the same way that Stuart Berry would be. But he certainly might be incompetent.
