Smith with a stupid attempted kick rather than just recycling it. Now the BBs can steal the match with a penalty goal. :angryfire:
Lucky Steyn misses yet again.
Oz tactics seems to have changed to box kicks is it just Burgess.
66 min - Cooper puts Smith through gap but he's drops the ball - was a long way out but.
67 mins AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) off after nice Cooper chip but Gregan saves
69 Oz L/o 30 metres but play breaks down - Steyn off but nailed. Oz defence holds AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) looks MOTM at this point. TPN getting better as game goes on - all players getting tired.
To date this is best display from an Oz A team (or near enough) since the Oz A game at the Gosford v. Lions.
Mitchell on. Oz getting penalised a bit now, but Baas not tapping (tired) .
72 mins PK againsat Oz - Steyn to kick for lead - misses !!!! still 13-11 Oz.
Try started by aggressive tackle from Tuqiri. After Oz gets turnover - Burgess skip pass to Mitchell - runs inside to hold Steyn - pass to Turner to score in corner. Kick misses. 18-11 Oz.
Not a test match but this has been the best defence from the Wallabies I can remember.
80 mins - Attempted drop goal by Cooper to seal win charged down - game was over.
I think Deans would be well pleased with a lot of what he saw.
O'Connor, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Tuqiri, Cooper (mostly) and just about all the forwards. Not the flashy Baa-Baas game of old, but bloody entertaining nonetheless.
Worth watching for the tackling alone - some real bone-crunchers in there.
Smith compared very favourably to Burger and McCaw.
Jeez imagine how good it could have been if played under the real ELVs?
So the Tahs are going to be missing a prop next season - might be the end of Dunning for good as snapped Achilles' is very difficult to come back from fully as a prop. Any estimates on a torn pect for Kepu?
Gregan showed me just what we're not missing at the moment: the point; the turn to the ref; the whinge. Burgess may not have all of Guv's composure but at least he just gets the fuck on with his job.
Our defensive intensity was awesome. Some of those hits were superb against quite classy players. Wasn't much of an attacking feast but that's modern rugby I guess. Was very disappointed with our policy of kicking skywards whenever we were in our own half, given the attacking talent on offer. However with mostly Saffers playing the BaaBaas' defence wasn't as disorganised as it could be.
