Why are there no VIC / WA boys in this team?

Hugh Jarse

Rocky Elsom (76)
^^^^
Because they are in the Vic or WA teams. There are only 5 Qld and 2 from ACT.

Who from Victoria or WA could have been selected that wasn't already in the state team?

(I think I've done the maths below right)

Div I Pool A Results
Combined States 31 (4t 4c 1 pen) def Qld II 12 (2t 1c)
NSW I 33 (5t 4c) def ACT 27 (3t 3c 2 pen)
Qld II 22 (4t 1c) def ACT 10 (2t)
NSW I 31 (5t 3 c) def Combined States 24 (4t 2c)
NSW I 12 (2t 1c) def Qld II 0
ACT - 12 (2 t 1 c) def Combined States - 10 (1t 1c 1 pen)

Final Pool A Ladder
NSW I Won 3, Lost 0 4T BP 2, Loss <7 BP 0 - Pts 14
CS Won 1, Lost 2, 4TBP 2, Loss < 7 BP 2 - Pts 8
Qld II Won 1, Lost 2, 4TBP 1, Loss < 7 BP 0 - Pts 5
ACT Won 1, Lost 2, 4TBP 0, Loss < 7 BP 1 - Pts 5 (4th on countback)

Div I Pool B Results
NSW II 57 (8t, 7c, 1pg) def WA 24 (4t, 2c)
Victoria 42 (6t, 3c, 2 pen) def Qld 1 16 (1t 1c, 3 pen)
NSW II 18 (2t 1c 2 pen) def Victoria 11 (1t 2 pen)
Qld I 48 (8t 4c) def WA 7 (1t 1c)
Victoria 17 (3t 1 c) def Western Australia 12 (4p)
Qld I 19 (3t, 2c) def NSW II 13 (2t 1 pen)

Final Pool B Ladder
NSW II Won 2, Lost 1 4T BP 1, Loss <7 BP 1 - Pts 10
Victoria Won 2, Lost 1 4T BP 1, Loss <7 BP 1 - Pts 10 (2nd on countback)
Qld I Won 2 Lost 1, 4T BP 1, Loss <7 BP 0 - Pts 9
WA Won 0, Lost 3, 4TBP 1, Loss < 7 BP 1 - Pts 2

Tomorrow's Fixtures
NSW I v NSW II (First - Second Playoff)
Victoria v Combined States (Third - Fourth Playoff)
Qld I v Qld II (Fifth - Sixth Playoff)
ACT v Western Australia (Seventh - Eighth Playoff)

My tip for the Final is that the NSW Team is guaranteed to win. Even Sportsbet isn't offering odds.
Likewise the fifth place will be sewn up by the Queensland team, no surer thing than that happening.
The other minor places will go to the team that wants to win more and plays better on the day, grasping the chances offered to them.

Good luck to all participants today. Team Rehab Selectors have been quite kind this tournament, let's hope they do not attend tomorrow.

For those lucky to be selected for the Schoolboys teams to be announced tomorrow, congratulations. All those miserable training sessions over the years suddenly make sense. Stay fit. There are about 100 other kids who are keen to take your place if you get injured over the next 3 months. Don't let them get a sniff or you may end up like David Pocock: two injuries and suddenly the world's best OSF finds himself as second choice to Michael Hooper when he regains fitness.

For those not selected for Australian Schoolboys, don't despair, you have made your parents proud by getting selected for your State team/s and given joy to the unassociated spectators with your efforts this week. Stay fit. There is 3 months before the PI & NZ tour, and there is always the possibility that you may get a phone call. Stay in the game if you can. Colts will be fun, and the fields become level as the Club Coaches are only interested in your week by week performance and attitude on the field and at training, and not your Schoolboy rugby pedigree.

State Selectors Whoopsies
2010 Qld II def NSW II
2006 Qld II def NSW II
1977 NSW II def NSW I

In 2006 the Qld I and NSW I teams had the gun players (including Q. Cooper and K. Beale respectively) but Qld I lost to NSW IIs by 15 points in their pool match, and NSW I lost to Qld II by three.

NSW I won the 3rd/4th place by 27 points v Qld 1, but Qld II won the Championship v NSW II 14-13.

And guess who got the bulk of the players in the Aussie Schools side? You're right: the players from the Qld and NSW Ones' teams.

This was predicted at the ground by parents of players in both Twos' teams.

To be fair the Ones' teams obviously had better players, but both Twos played better as a team.

^^^^ And to say that there was some discontent on the makeup of the 2010 NSW I and NSW II teams would be as big an understatement as saying the Pacific Ocean is a fairly large body of water.

My probables based on rankings. Outside centre will be a hard one to fill but the attack in this backline listed would be electric. With the leading try scorer Mohi and another great scorer Williams in the team especially and Ikatau who is a try scoring machine too. Eadie from QLD is another great try scorer with 4 tries in this tournament and is another potential player there too.
