This is just a prediction of what I think the schools team will look like. Not sure if there's any talent in Victoria or act, so I guess I'm biased for qld and nsw.
No room for Thomas Wright - Joeys??

Tom Wright is a real talent.
Runs in the same style and with the same urgency as Beale.
Hard to believe he won't earn a spot in the Australian XV backline.
McGregor, Kennewell and Wright were all outstanding at the recent NSW trials.
I also thought McCauley was excellent at second row.
Athletic and 2 metres tall he gets around the park and makes life very difficult for the opposition at lineout time.
The Aussie XV was a bit lacking in height last year.
NZ schoolboys fielded a couple of giants last year.

With all the Division 1 Teams published now, is there any player who has missed out on a gig at National Championships due to injury, especially if he is a good candidate for Australian Schoolboys or Australian Barbarians?

Gents ,since Adam was a boy playing rugby and not interested in Eve ,selectors have always favoured their own locally known players.
Like Bob Dwyer picking Glen Ella at fullback instead of Roger Gould or Mark Ella over Paul McLean .These coaches /selectors have so much faith and know their games so well Having watched MOST of them since the under 10's they defer to them in close calls as a safety net. This happens whether NSW or Qld selectors are involved. It is unhealthy to have all the selectors from one state, do they rotate selection panels ,i don't know why this is the situation, but I can guarantee now QLD will have more than they should no matter what the results next week .Would be the same scenario if all selectors were NSW, its human nature to have favourites who have rewarded you in the past. The one thing we all know the Aust coach is under pressure to win so he will want to get the best team possible given to him. One of the hardest things to do as a coach is to be a good selector, chosing the right boys in the right positions.

There has been an argument mentioned that some selectors tend to pick players they know and if there are more selectors from a certain state, players from another state are disadvantaged, ipso facto.

Just to (hopefully) add to Lee's insight on this topic (and HJ will tell me if I'm wrong) in many of these rep situations once you get to this point selectors will inquire of or have inquired of regular coaches, opposed coaches and associates they have and trust to get more than might be seen in a week of rugby.
I'd wager that even if the QLD selectors outnumber the NSW selectors they each will be gathering intelligence from those sources - perhaps even looking to confirm that intelligence by watching particular kids who are in the mix.

The quote above.

That's what I wrote but then I proceeded to debunk it.

To add to the likelihood of your collecting on your wager: the ARU have two individuals at the selection meetings: Adrian Thompson and Manu Sutherland, and although they are non-voting participants (they are not ASRU people), they wouldn't countenance any obvious bias.

The reasons they are in attendance is to debunk the appearance of bias and to overcome inadvertent bias.

Writers wanted

Is anyone going to be at National Championships who is able to be an "unpaid intern" for G&GR?

Over the years G&GR has provided unrivalled coverage of Grass Roots and Schoolboy rugby. None of this happens without the efforts of volunteer reporters and photographers. Many hands make light work.

Is there anyone who will be at one or more of the games for National Championships that is prepared to write a brief match report?

Many parents, friends, relatives, associates, current and former coaches of the players at National Championships rely on G&GR for updates on the championships especially those who, for whatever reason, are unable to get to Riverview to watch the games.

If you can help, please send a conversation to @Lee Grant and myself outlining which games you can cover on which days. Click on the "inbox" drop down menu nest to your user name near the top right of your screen. Choose "Start a new conversation" and follow your nose from there.

Saw Tom Wright on utube clip, showed class with ball in hand and looks very elusive. Looking forward to see him in action next week, didn't get to see any defensive work on clip so not sure how he stands?, Jayden Ngamanu Qld 1 shows similar skills but very reliable last line of defence. Can't wait to see them up against each other, at this stage I would throw both players in the aust squad! That's only my opinion.

^^ You may not get to see Wright up against Ngamanu if history repeats itself and NSW II beat Qld I in the Thursday match to set up a NSW v NSW Gold Medal play off match on Saturday.

History has confirmed your comment, we'll have to see how it all unfolds.awesome sevens clip mate and I certainly hope it's an even better 15s clip, as you know the transition is a lot more intense and physically, exciting times ahead.

I think there is already a huge amount of back line talent standing in line, most of the Aus Sevens training squad are back line players and they are all big and fast.

what 7s does not demand from midfield players is the ability to assess options quickly and accurately in traffic: that is the characteristic we most cry out for in under age national teams based on what went down in Italy recently.
