I would say more national league with tv rights sold to every state rather than an extra game every week, most of the time the extra game is hidden away clashing with 2 other games

Gents, I decided to get back on the Youtube grind after a few years. Determined to make rugby content to hopefully promote the game long term. I was a bit nervous to share this video with you lot of experts! But thought it is pretty relevant trailing the discussion about NRL / Union. Nah I don’t mind it - if we want to grow the game, we need to share around the drawcard matches. What better way to get some attention than an Origin-style clash in rugby league’s heartland

I assume you mean genius in the literal sense?

We need to gain a foothold back in the regional areas, may as well leverage the QLD v NSW origin rivalry. Honestly I doubt that game sells out Suncorp anyway.

As an aside, Townsville the city was a key cog in keeping a lot of Aussie sports running during covid so I’m happy they’ll get some of the flagship Super Rugby games and I know they’ve been rewarded in other sports.

Waratahs have fallen behind Brumbies and Crusaders for marketing pull & crowds in recent years, I’d say a Waratahs game is worth more in Townsville than Brisbane given the parochial ‘origin’ supporter base up there.
