Of course they are (and they would be silly if they weren't) however this doesn't equate to actually leaving. NH teams would be reaching out to ensure if anything does go down that they are kept in the loop. My favourite part was the confirmation with a player manager that there had been enquiries. Bloody hell. All those times you have heard a player manager say sorry I want to dispell any rumours, my client has had no interest at all.

Yeh Coles in another article saying players at French clubs are suffering massive wage cuts and little interest is coming from them, then Halloran dumping shit on the game again. Infact I see it as a good thing, it’s showing she has little to write about this week. Players will go, however everything is tightening up every where.

Also worth remembering that France are about to impose limits on non-French players in match day 23's, average of four per match over a season IIRC.

Ok ,I just watched the last of spin off rugby series in which Sumo Stevenson has discussed the state of NZ rugby (I know this is about RA0 and I heard a few petinent comments, he had as guests the Head honchos of BOP, Tasman and Ngati Porou East Coast rugby and some things said I wish could be listened to here.
1 How is NZRU making sure you survive , the general answer was we make sure we survive ourselves!! They are helping, but we make sure we can do it ourselves. The woman in charge said if for some reason NZRU ceased to be, we would still be playing rugby, because that's all our players are interested in!!
2 Will less money mean you will have less resources for running community programmes? Answer no, they don't run them we do, we only get advice on best ways to do it, and would carry on regardless.
Both Tasman and BOP said they had an emergency fund they had put aside for a rainy day etc and must admit was interesting to here about BOP and GRR.
The other thing they insisted was that they and not NZRU looked after grassroots rugby and how they thought it should be.
What I took from watching it was a satisfaction that the NZ provinces were all having hard times , but were not expecting the ones above to fix everything, and I wonder if there a lesson there?
RA is probably only as strong as the state boards below it who are probably only as good as the community rugby clubs etc!

They thought it was a good idea and passed me on to NSWRU, who then got annoyed at the ARU and passed me back to them, saying it was their responsibility. Neither thought they were responsible for it. Both thought the other one was responsible for it. I just felt embarrassed for both of them and left it alone. Now, whenever I see banners up for other sports, I remember it and shake my head.

I just wish they'd sort themselves out and clarify who does what. They just keep painting over the same old damaged wall, rather than sanding it back, and patching it up first.

Your anecdote sounds like a question of budgetary responsibility in an organisation under great financial pressure. When the money is short, innovation goes out the window.

They thought it was a good idea and passed me on to NSWRU, who then got annoyed at the ARU and passed me back to them, saying it was their responsibility. That story rings a loud bell. Shook my head at first reading back then and I'm still perplexed.

There are probably pots of gold, but only for a limited few top players. The idea that 140 contracted Australian professional rugby players could all go to Europe and get full-time professional contracts was always nonsense.

Thoughts on why Fordham (& Breen in BrisVegas) not Hadley is replacing Jones? Did Hadley not want it or are they deliberately bringing in someone a little less controversial for the sake of being controversial?

Hadley has a long history of his staff resigning and complaining about bullying and my impression is that he's a bit of a boofhead as well. Jones has his faults, but most of his staff have worked with him for 30 years.

I suspect Fordham also has a somewhat wider appeal than Hadley and has a lot more intelligence.

It wouldn't surprise me if the timing was designed to make sure Hadley didn't get it and Fordham did. Jones is longstanding friends of the Fordham family.

Hadley dominates the 9am-12pm slot already so I'd guess there was little incentive for him to want to move to breakfast. He already has a really large contract when they were thinking of ditching Jones and moving Hadley to there a year ago which he gets to keep even staying in his existing time slot.

I certainly wouldn't have been in a rush to move the start of the workday to 5am or thereabouts.
