TBH I wasn't watching it at the time, but I understood this to have been a bid that was fundamentally against the Kings. And that the decision was made by SANZAR. Is that wrong?

Nah, SA and Australia were granted a license each and it came down to Perth and Melbourne............

However, there was no doubt that at the time Perth was easily more deserving of it as rugby’s profile was really taking off there.

Western Sydney has been a basket case for decades.

The fourth licence should have gone their of this in my mind there is no doubt. It was capable of being saved pre WSW & GWS. More over the PI population had not at that stage converted to league.

But the time has passed, junior and player numbers in general are down, and any decent players gets offered 50K to 75K grants to join AFL and they don't care if the kid makes it or not they simply wanta ensure other codes loss talent. League also poaches players with 15k up to 25K grants but they at least want them for teams. Soccer runs special coaching groups for its special players in an attempt to keep them from AFL.

WS is lost now, the Wanders and more recently GWS add the league teams, have taken over. We just don't react.

Our junior numbers are still heading south according to commonwealth gov figures. Scroll down we are number number 18 on page five of the following link https://www.ausport.gov.au/__data/a...83/AusPlay_focus_Children_Participation_2.pdf

Twiggy can do little if ACT, Sydney & Brisbane fall over. Below are just some of what other codes have built within the last 6 years or so .

Before anyone tells me the Super Rugby teams and NSWRU don't have this kinda money, hhhhhh eeeee rrrrr aaarrararar maybe because they model they use keeps out those who like all of these were build without money from the governing bodies.

Our fearless leader, needs to stand up to the board but me thinks she may have been chosen because she does not stand up to boards, chosen because she carries out board instruction efficiently.

We are in deep deep deep poo and we simply can't find a way out.

Re above look at these, especially the last one built for grass roots development.

^^^The Blacktown site is where any new western Sydney SS team should be based and it's where RA or NSWRU should build a western Sydney rugby academy. (As I've suggested on the SS thread)

Just imagine if we had $31 million in the bank, we could use it for something like this.;)

Please don't get me started on Blacktown, I ran my practice their from 2000 to 2012, and had a handful of clients who's kids went to Seven Hills High [Sports School for those that don't know].

Anywho the AFL came marching in, and I remember one particular U 15 rep side as one of my clients son's was a half in it and also trying out for Parramatta as a half. My client got me to watch him as I played both games at a reasonable level.

The year was 2010. There where 3 teams, U 15 rep league side and my clients son was in both, and an U 15 soccer side where another clients son played. The AFL walked in and offered each of the rugby U 15 side between 50K & 60K to play AFL, they did the same to the league side and the soccer side. We lost 12 kids, league lost 2 and soccer lost none. The AFL guys did not give a shit if these kids made it AFL all they wanted to do was rob the other codes of talent.

People pleaded to the senior bodies the best we could offer for some was to go to St Joes or similar and maybe Sydney Uni.

We had access to fields, stadiums, and had a large PI union focused population.

Its not only RA who is to blame the level of incompetency goes very deep.

Thats in part why we need independent teams in and independent structure.

If the could get access to the Football Park with the multiple fields that would be awesome.

Half are you saying they offered each kid $50k? 15 year old random rep players?

Yep, or the best ...Between AFL & NRL we lost 12 kids 8 or 9 to AFL and the balance to league, and league lost 2 players to AFL.

Remember at the time GWS was costing the AFL between 20 & 25 million a year in losses ... in those days...

1. No way are clubs offering 15 year old's 50 grand.

2. GWS is still costing the AFL a bundle.

Smells like a turd, looks like a turd, probably is a turd.

The minimum wage back in 2010 in the AFL was around $55k

First round draftees got a minimum $59,200 while second round got a minimum $52,000

I started to write that there would probably be some kind of child labour law that would prevent the AFL from doing something like that. Then i remembered i worked in a bakery for $6 an hour when i was 15 (not even that long ago).

NRL clubs pay for scholarships at GPS schools which wouldn't be far off that amount, but cash?

In a Nutshell, without independent teams or structure nothing is ever going to change.????????

There is plenty of anecdotal evidence of NRL clubs (or their surrogates) signing up kids as young as 14 - maybe signing their parents, I do not know how it works, and obviously there is some kind of quid pro quo.

One thing is for certain........... the AFL are not paying 50K per unsigned 15 yr old to poach them from other sports.

I’m not sure who fed half that story, but it’s a good one.

Maybe the same person that told him that the Newcastle club competition is in robust health. Sadly, it is not. The oldest club, Waratahs, have dropped out of the competition. Not enough players.

Sorry Wamberal, do some homework first. They are still there just not the top grade, they are still there and in addition to that the club remains very strong sending a mens and womens team to the Crescent Head Sevens event hosted by the Kempsey RUFC in February. They performed very strongly and pushed Manly, with the women taking out the competition with some stirring rugby.

An awesome slam from Alan Jones in today's Australian - makes me want to watch Kick n Chase just to see Raelene answer some questions.

I know, a bit rant, but jeeze it said everything I feel and them some

Sorry, how is this her responsibility. It was the SRU that pulled the plug. And this has been an ongoing issue for a long time. Well before her tenure.

At least give her some time to fuck up.
