indeed it is. this doc wasn't there yesterday when i was trawling. it shows where Senator Reynolds got her figures from. It still dosen't answer the question all have been asking, why have the ARU been so "friendly" to MRRU ? None of the "mates" involved have any direct financial benefit, that we are aware of.

Well the Senator has bought up the 'Trusts' multiple times and potential money flowing into the trusts.

Where it goes from there I suppose we will have to see when the final report comes out but I think the dots can be connected when you keep in mind a current member of the new MRRU board introduced Imperium to the ARU, I believe had an interest in one of the trusts & his son soon worked for Imperium, it isn't too much of a stretch to see what potentially went on. And why the VRU/ARU have been hell bent to keep the Rebels afloat.

It would also be interesting to see where some of these "consultancy fees" and other similar expenses have gone...

the ARU's largess predates any involvement of G Gray, Cox or Imperium. Its obvious why the VRU want the Rebels to stay afloat, same reasons Rugby WA wanted the Force to survive. Still cant see what was in it for either the ARU to to keep pumping money in, or for Cox, i reckon he got conned as much as anyone.

How did Cox get conned exactly?? Is this some new definition?
If he got conned then I'd like to get conned.

That's assuming he had this big old dream to run a sports franchise....although charging the consultancy fees Imperium did kind of puts to bed this idea I would think.

Money grab from a businessman with a technically insolvent company.

well we will probably never know how much in front he eventually wound up. it seems clear that Imperium siphoned off a substantial amount, the debt free transition back to the VRU might have cost him, i doubt it, but who knows what leverage was used to get him to do a deal with the VRU/Vic Govt rather than the ARU.

Wasn't the debt free transition done by some unknown benefactors?

I am sceptical about the ARU's intentions in all of this as they seem to have had to approve the transfer to the VRU but potentially had their own $1 sale put option in the contract with Imperium which would seemingly make that a much more attractive option. But Tim North was seemingly giving legal advice to the ARU so yeah, wasn't likely.

So many skeletons in the closet it seems in relation to this whole mess in Victoria and potentially the ARU just wanted to keep a lid on it all knowing they dun fucked up.

Big concern has got to be whether the ARU are still going to go tits up in a couple years?
They've cut a team that cost them very little to keep one that cost them a bunch.
I can't see any improvement in average player quality in Australia occurring.
Will MRRU be able to be somewhere near black on their own?
Is this all part of the rumoured preference for 3 super teams? Axe the one that could've survived on its own and finally cut the purse strings from the one that can't survive and let it go belly up?
Going to be a bit of a wait to find out.

Would be interesting to see the financial projections for both the ARU and the Rebels through to the end of the current broadcast contract in 2020. Three more years with the Rebels operating at a similar level to the past will surely bankrupt the whole of rugby in Aus.
Edit : Not in WA however, where the money looks to be available to keep the game going over there.

I simply just don't get how one super rugby team could burn up so much more money than the others - surely the ARU must know where their money was going??

Well the ARU have taken U out of the ARU. In a bold move expected to save 33% on printers ink each time they use there own name. An insider told me they hope to save $2.37 in 2018 alone.

Financial future secured.

Wonder how much rebranding cost - throw out he old letterhead, revamp the website, new logo.
Mind you all the people I talk to tell me that the main reason they won’t watch rugby is because of the piss poor fonts they use.
The ARU Board get their management ideas from “Utopia”.

I had hoped a massive rebranding were to happen the day the ARU actually reformed itself and rid itself of its nepotistic shackles...

Unfortunately this isn’t today..

A quick search of the business name register with ASIC shows that both Rugby Australia and Rugby AU are both available for registration. I was very tempted to lodge a registration for both names myself.

Next step in the Force fiasco; Rugby WA register both.
