Doesn't matter, but it will be interesting when Rugby League and Basketball continue to gain in popularity in NZ. Might suddenly see from our pov.
I didn't know that basketball and league played ANZAC tests. I thought NZRL wanted and ARL said no, but I don't follow those sports, so maybe they do.

Yep mate, but I think if it all added up financially it would have been on. But from what I read it was always to be played in Aus, and I think extra tests overseas in USA are pretty attractive these days, with sponsors etc. As I said apart from in here, I hadn't heard about the super weekend though.
5mil attractive?

Maybe RA should organise to play a state of origin match on ANZAC day instead. Or a Wallabies vs Barbarians/All Stars. Tell NZR we'll need a couple of half rounds for super rugby regardless of their position on the ANZAC Bledisloe.

International rugby is the pinnacle for rugby, not state or super rugby.

NRL and State Of Origin are the pinnacles for the league; international rugby league is an afterthought.

That's why the NRL aren't going to play an international test on ANZAC Day; they are guaranteed better ratings and crowds through NRL matches.

I agree, and an ANZAC Bledisloe would be by far the biggest annual event possible. But if NZ aren't coming to the party immediately, then creating a precedent of a special event/match on ANZAC day is still possible, and may make it more likely for NZ to change their tune in future. Especially as there'd be a necessity for the 2 weekends before and after (or including) ANZAC day to be half rounds anyway.
